The page you were looking for no longer exists

all right, i haven't really been able to spend large chunks of time online since last week thursday-ish. i'm 9 pages (4 days) behind on my users, but at least all caught up re: my conversations--which perversely is easier when you're that far behind since all the discussion is taking place on blogs you haven't read yet. :>

but the funny thing is that clearly, there's a summer heat wave all over SC because by rights, given that it's been the better part of a week i should be a good 12-15 pages behind, not just 9. what's up with that?

i mean, i know that i haven't been blogging much--i don't recall the last time i posted more than one blog/day, in all honesty--but really now, when a blog with just 6 comments can crack the featured page, that's a definite sign that things are slowing down!

so is it just me, or is everyone on summer vacation these days?

Would you believe front page on just 3 or 4.  It appears almost possible simply by being other than computer generated post actually.

Well! I'm here...but I'm at work mostly, and with all this kids out for summer break its almost impossible to find a reason to stay indoors.

Maybe I'll buy a blackberry and blog while on the go??
  • CreativeWoman said on Jul 29, 2008....
I've been around, but not as much.  Summer seems to draw me outside more.  I've been at little town fairs, baseball games and out to the lake quite a bit.  Plus I've been working on all of those "me" improvements.  :-)

Ed- For a few days I've been contemplating doing this same post. Where have all the bloggers gone? There can't be that many on vacation. I sure hope it picks up by winter....
  • uniquely-ironic said on Jul 29, 2008....
There is a sort of slow season to SC.  I remember last summer being slow too, but maybe not this slow.  Perhaps there are fewer bloggers as well.

I hope also that perhaps more SC bloggers are having less trouble and stress, thus less to blog about.  That would be the best reason for slow blogging.
  • MissMimi said on Jul 29, 2008....

    [waves]  I'm here, Ed!

It is slow, and a lot of bloggers seem to be gone.  I hope it's not forever, but change is the nature of things, I guess.

You read every post?  You make me feel like a slacker!  No wonder I haven't seen you over at my place in a while.

  • the_infernal_optimist said on Jul 29, 2008....
I've noticed this too. And for my part, you know there are some big things on the horizon! I think all the day-to-day fuss of getting ready to move and stuff is leeching away my posting time.

Summer is always pitiful around here, but not this bad. I think more people are just kind of in that "blah" phase than normal right now.

I've been around almost every day, but I haven't always been commenting.  I've been feeling kinda "meh" about SoulCast lately, to be honest, but it's probably just me, because I'm feeling that way elsewhere, too.

I'am one of those people...summer is just so much more becoming than sitting on the computer as of lately. I live in a resort town, beautiful moutains, and lakes all around. I'm spoiled by nature...and it's a callin'. hehe.
  • evil_twin said on Jul 29, 2008....
I've definitely noticed that it's much slower here this summer than last. I've not been as active either, because I've been so busy at work most of the time. I come here on the weekends a lot more, but no one is ever here then. So I usually just give up. I'm trying to get back to blogging more regularly, but my mind has been blank.

I've noticed less activity here too. I have been buried in the remodel chaos but recently have found a little more time to read, comment, and even post. I do love the summer. Don't you?
  • RollingC said on Jul 29, 2008....
I've noticed that there is less traffic.  I'm working night shifts and have plenty of time to get online now in between my duties so I'm doing more reading than before (which I really enjoy) and possibly it's the summer season ? not just a changing trend?
     I hope so.

Well, Ed, as crybabylu posted about no ad's being around, I noticed that it looks like this place has been left for dead.  Soulcast hasn't posted since December, about anything, and only users are helping other users in the SC Help area.

IMO, I don't think it's just a summer thing.  I think there's more to it than we know, or don't know.  I'm not going to investigate it.  I fully expect to come here one day and have a "We no longer exist" message.

not to be a 'told you so', but i wrote a post of this same nature nearly 2 months ago. it's been going on for quite some time silver. i've even seen the bottom 6 front page posts with a mere 2 comments. many of the most popular bloggers, destiny, et, you, slowed way down or stopped alltogether for an extended period of time. plus, sc became a place for people to 'vent' or 'unload', and those that were left did a whole lot of that, and not to be insensative, but there's only so much of other people's misery that any one person can stand, ya know? so yeah, sc ain't what it used to be by any means. not like it was last summer even, when there was an unofficial 'friendly competition' going on to write the best posts, attract the most comments, that sort of thing.

as to soulcast not writing, well, with all the bitching people did about such inane things as how the 'most popular' list was arranged, or who did and did not make the front page, or who was going to get sued this week for something they wrote, (including soulcast) i'm not surprised they decided to just let the users run the show and do maintenance only on the site. no good deed goes unpunished.

but umm, yeah. I have a good reason to be gone, but I'll try. I have been feeling pretty blah. Mostly I come here to read up on my favorite people...then I just kinda slink away...

I haven't been here as much, but still clicking on to read and comment here and there.  I mean in just the last couple of days....sometimes I get all reved up for a night on the SC town and I am hogging the blogs.  Still busy trying to get my life back on track, and hadn't noticed the changes at all---not even the missing ads until I saw the post about it from crybabylu!  Hope things pick up and this is just one of the lulls as people are busy.  I don't know anything about how things are run behind the scenes.....just glad you are here when I am!

For me....I am recuperating after a week of being sick....getting better now...so i am sitting again in front of the comp and here...

Summer has always been the beast of Sc...but indeed never like this summer.... or maybe i am noticing it more because i didn't leave for Italy like the past two summers....

Deep down i agree with Daily though.....something could be going on.... hope we

hi ed, i've been outdoors and offline since friday (or was it thursday? some days feel telescoped into each other when you're having fun...lol) until monday. now that it's my day off i've got a lot of online catching-up to do. still swamped in work this whole week, though...

oh, and here in my corner of the world it's the height of monsoon rains, and feverish last-minute preps for the olympics... ;-)

Just enjoying the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer. It is good as everything slows down - bosses on holidays, less traffic on road and not getting caught up in the mad summer rush. Just being where I am is more relaxing than moving around going nowhere.

  • silverwhisper said on Jul 31, 2008....
mm&i: nice to see you! yeah, summer's pretty busy actually--it's weird, isn't it? i always think of relaxation & summer together but there's not been much of that for me. :>

tbs: no, don't get a crackberry! if you think you spend a lot of time with your mobile phone, that's nothing compared to what will happen with a crackberry!

CW: it's nice to see that your improvements are going well, and i'm really glad for you. :> will you be seeing your nephew again soon?

beyond: well, as has been noted by others such as u-i, it's cyclical. this is now my third summer on SC and summers do slow down, although usually we do pick up a few regulars, often college students home for the summer. i don't think i've seen quite as much of that as in past years.

u-i: well, i'm not so sure that soulcasters are having fewer issues--although certainly for a few such as ET (non-kyle), that's certainly true, and of course a few are just busy (kyle, z & a few others).

mimi: well, there's about 1 month or so worth of my users i decided not to get back to but otherwise: yes. what else did you think i meant when i say i'm caught up? :>

infernal: i see you did post something so i'm hoping to get to that later this morning. and yeah, i think it's the blahs, myself.

fallyn: as you know, i'm not myself a parent, but i've always felt that one of the hardest things for me when i become one myself will be trying to find time for me that has nothing to do with parenting, so i'm glad you've been able to take the opportunity for self-discovery, fallyn. :>

eilan: really? cuz i was thinking, maybe you've been feeling "meh" b/c according to cotterall, you're married to someone who isn't a real man. :D

eurekame: you live in a resort town? ugh, all the tourists must be making you crazy! my sister teaches at a university that gets a hyperactive 1 month tourist season and she hates them! :>

kyle: sorry that work's been keeping you so busy, man, and yeah, somewhere after your first year here, i find that people tend to hit a block re: blogs. i'm sure the block is temporary, though. nice to see you, kyle. :>

woman: i'm quite fond of summer, although i like to think i'm a fan of all four seasons. as i'm behind on my users, i don't think i'm up to speed re: your remodeling efforts, i'll try to rectify that. :>

rollingc: as others have noted, it's traditionally slow during summer but this year seems moreso than the past. i'm puzzled.

daily: hey there! i haven't actually noticed re: no ads, to be honest--i figured that was b/c i was reading a few blogs that were tagged sex or adult content actually. but SC not posting anything has nothing to do with soulcasters posting/commenting, you know? we're an opinionated bunch!

trav: yeah, i know you did. was there an unofficial friendly competition? i must've missed that. and yeah, i agree re: the soulcast account posting--but you already knew that, i think. :> however, i do wonder about the lack of response to soulcast_help posts.

wombat: hi! :D yeah, i didn't notice about the ads until daily mentioned it, to be honest! ah well, another mystery--but around here, who's gonna notice one more? :>

GS: sorry you haven't been well, that sucks. it's nothing serious, i trust? and re: daily's observation, i think trav makes a good point.

TS: you know i have a keen interest in all things civil liberties-related and in the idiocy of the bush regime, will check 'em out--when i have time. :>

moon: always a pleasure to see you, sir. :> i did see your note that you'd be away for the weekend, nice to have you back. :> i saw an interesting news story yesterday, something about the chinese government spying on journalists covering the olympics. any thoughts on that?

jenna: long time no see! the more i think about it, the more i think that this summer's particularly slow, but i guess we'll see. :>

quietone: i think it's fair to say we'd all miss the hell out of this place if it came to that. i've noticed that the site response is horrible around 5-6 am though, which i imagine is when SC does their updates and as long as that holds true i guess i'm not as worried, you know?

lalaine: wow, been a long time since i've seen you! so what's going to be taking you to asia, i'm awfully curious. ?

    sis: yeah, i suppose so!

scipio: i've often felt that generally, the real trick to happiness is the knack in finding how to be happy in your environment, and it seems like you've done that. :>

Meaining .... simply being a human posting now places you 2nd or 3rd page irregardless of content, views or comments.

Been almost two years for us ed, seems a civil word between us on occasions harms no one.  We just won't make a habit of it, and I am sure the readership expects no less from either.  ; )

Been a long summer for sc, but a longer fall and winter awaits all sc'ers,
sadistically I think, most regs watch eagerly for their (sc'ers) return... almost child like on Christmas eve.

    Hiya's again.... scip i know..... ; )

Ed:  What I mean is that SC hasn't put out a post to users on why, or what to do if anything.  In the past, things were addressed.  Remember when they requested users to tag things using "adult content" if that's what the post was?  Well, why not telling users that have or use Adsense what to do now, or what's going on? Sooo strange.

I googled soulcast and nothing came up about this site at all.  Nothing.  It just seems so odd to me, that's all.  Crybabylu pointed out that there weren't ads and I didn't notice either until she mentioned it.

    (Geek history moment)

Several years ago, the Yahoo! web search engine used Google, back when Google was just starting out. I remember because I used to use the Yahoo! search engine more and that's what got me to switch to Google. I mean, why deal with the middleman?

AFAIK, M$ has not yet bought out Yahoo!. They attempted but couldn't come to an agreement, but I think they did come up with some kind of cooperative arrangement WRT ads and revenue. But still separate companies.

I feel so completely empty. I've been so depressed lately that I can't seem to remember when I became this way. What happened to me? I can't be happy anymore. I can't bring myself to do any of the things I used to like. All I want to do is sit around and...

What is the cure for a loss of appetite? Recently, I cannot seem to eat much food, nor do I have the desire to eat. I am not sure why exactly, but I have experienced this in the past and have no idea how I got back to eating....
