with my job, i am always meeting new people from all over the world everyday. sometimes, i become friends with these people; other times, these people become the bestest of friends that i could ever ask for.
today, i had to say goodbye to a great friend of mine. it started out quite nicely. i arranged a surprise lunch for him at an italian restaurant then went to the esplanade to enjoy the live band. as we sat there along the water, i started to ask myself, how can i say goodbye to him?
in the past, i have not found it so difficult because i was drunk or with a group of people. but at the end of today, it was just me and him. i wanted to cry but instead, i let myself choke on my tears. i wanted to kiss him but at the same time, i didn't want him to get the wrong idea so i held back. i wanted to dance with him but i knew he would've been embarrassed to dance with all the people around. in the end, i just gave him a quick hug and said goodbye.
i wish i had done it differently but i don't know how.
