Dress White

Which one do you like better?  I cant decide.  The black one costs £40 and the white one was on sale for £20.

The wedding is at 1:30pm and then its party till late in the evening.

Both look great on you, and I like both.....but I would pick the white one, since the event starts at 1:30 in the afternoon.   However.....I noticed the shoes.  Will the heels you have to wear be uncomfortable for a long period of time?  Oh, well....kick 'em off and party away!

  • Mamie said on Jul 24, 2008....
welllll, they are both very pretty! But if you buy the black one you can wear it in more seasons, ya know? Where as the white one is defo summertime and although you would save money today, you might spend more getting another dress next winter! good luck, you are gorgeous in both!
  • pusscat said on Jul 24, 2008....
Sorry polar but you no gonna like my answer. . . . .KEEP 'EM BOTH!

Seriously - at those prices you can!  I have done this before too.

You go to the wedding in the beautiful white dress (which looks fab on you of course) and do the afternoon chatting and munching but, as evenings rolls around, it's time to look 'sensual'.  The little black number (which I would die for) can be hung up in whatever car you arrived in.  It takes all of 5 minutes to do a quick change in the ladies and you'll be the belle of the ball :-)

I like the white for the afternoon and the black for evening.
You have to return one and it's an all day thing?
Well, the black will be much more versatile than the white, which looks more seasonal.
    Does that help?
  • uniquely-ironic said on Jul 24, 2008....
I know I'm hopelessly old fashioned, but I could never wear white to a wedding.  I think the dress is really really cute, but just couldn't give the bride a hint of competition by wearing white.  Black is a very chic choice.  That dress is also very sexy and can be used for more future events than the white perhaps.
  • Lucytorial said on Jul 24, 2008....
You aren't going to like my answer I think.... the black one is versitile and the white one although gorgeous well... the shoes don't do it.. maybe a low heal would be beter without the ankle straps.. anyway I say the black... makes your tits look fucking amazing! te he he he
  • beyondtheveil said on Jul 24, 2008....
polar- I do think the white is a pretty dress, but I'd definitely go with the black.
  • destinydiva said on Jul 24, 2008....
I think the white one...  you look gorgeous in both though :-) xx
  • secretlife said on Jul 24, 2008....
    i say the black one.
i don't think anyone but the bride should wear white to a wedding.

i'd keep them both though....i mean you did get the white one on sale, and i'm sure you'll be able to use it for another occasion.
  • fearing said on Jul 24, 2008....
I like the black one.  It's more formal, sexier.  I know the price is more but you'll get more uses out of it.

Btw, as your friend, I can say your boobs look nice in both.  ;-)
  • eurekame said on Jul 24, 2008....
i like the black one, but im a sucker for a good deal...black one thou!
  • Wish_Upon_A_Star said on Jul 24, 2008....

    i want the white one!!!!

you look gorgeous in both and as others said great boobage in both... i like the white one for an afternoon wedding. As to black at weddings my school of thought i was taught is that it is maudlin and bad luck to wear...

but like others said they're both great prices and i would keep em both... especially the white one... wow!

  • dailyachesandpains said on Jul 24, 2008....
Polarkins:  I am going to go with the black one here.  Both look great!  I was raised old fashioned I think.  Nobody is allowed to wear white to a wedding in our family even if there is other color in it...unless you're the bride.

My wedding was at the same exact time, bye the way, and almost everyone wore black.  The reception wasn't until 6PM and I didn't even change...I sure do wish I did now that I think back.  I was very pleased with the attire my guests wore, but the only way I noticed was because almost everyone matched!

The white one, dyed bright green with "666" written across the waist in Sharpie.  I know it sounds ridiculous but my Aunt Reginald is still brought up at family gatherings.
  • quietone said on Jul 24, 2008....
black one polardoodle, although I do like them both, and have to agree the black is more versitile.  Have fun at the wedding.  :)  You look great, but too bad someone cut off you head!  LOL
  • travelr712 said on Jul 24, 2008....
i'd say black, only because the party is at night and i think black would be more fitting for an evening dress
  • cuppajava said on Jul 24, 2008....
Hi - you look great in both - but i prefer the black one

  • crybabylu said on Jul 25, 2008....
most definitely, the black one.......wow!  wonderful!
  • husbandhater said on Jul 25, 2008....
POLLS I like em both but I think the black one is a keeper.
The white makes u look smaller on top than bottom.
  • PassionTraveler said on Jul 25, 2008....
I'm sure the wedding is long over by now, and you've made your decision, but I say keep em both, but wear the white to the wedding. you've got the figure to carry off white, but I'd go with nude/flesh colored open toe heels with a pedicure for the white dress. Neutral shoes make your legs look longer and sexier.

Let us know which one you choose.

woah!!!! mama mia you look good on both!!! i chose the black one though... white (aside from the bride) is not appropriate for the wedding... ;-)

  • Alyss said on Jul 25, 2008....
polar, both look good but I recommend the black one.
  • BurnedOut said on Jul 25, 2008....
I agree, both look incredible on you...but if I HAD to chose, I would go with the black dress.  Very stylish!
  • BriClay said on Jul 25, 2008....
The Black- it's a better cut for your build, and also works better with the shoes. Avoid neck jewelry, the neckline makes a great statement. Silver or white gold jewelry- if you have.
  • RollingC said on Jul 25, 2008....

Well for my taste....although you look good on both....I think the black dress is better. :^) Rc

  • FutureGoddess said on Jul 25, 2008....

Hey Polar - Both dresses are gorgeous, both look amazing on you and I agree with the people who said keep them both.

Here is my however. . .  it is totally innappropriate to wear a white dress at a wedding EVER!!!  It comes across as if you are trying to outshine the bride (regardless of the fact that the dress has lots of pink and is totally adorable and looks fabulous on you) - wear the black!!

Just type the phrase "wearing white at wedding when not bride" into any search engine and whole host of sites, including reputable etiquette sites, come up telling you that it is tacky and inappropriate.  Sorry - it's just how I feel.

That said - the dress is amazing and you NEED TO KEEP IT!!  It will absolutely come in handy and it is of a style that will last.

  • FutureGoddess said on Jul 25, 2008....
Plus - after looking again, the black definitely says "wedding" and the white says more "summer  party"
  • monkeyboyx said on Jul 25, 2008....
    Wear white you virgin,YOU!
  • BADDA_BING said on Jul 25, 2008....
Always wear black. It makes you look powerfuf and in controll of every situation.By the way....NICE GAMS!
  • princessbitch65 said on Jul 25, 2008....

I really like both dresses! In a perfect world, keep both but if I had to choose....

I would pick the black dress.

Do you have accessories yet for either dress? That could help with your decision on which one to keep. The dress that you didn't have to get to go with the dress would be the better choice. Good luck!

  • rmuxagirl said on Jul 25, 2008....
Polar hunny I love both!, but I would keep the black one like everyone said you can wear it again and again.  Though I would love to have a white dress.  I have plenty of black ones...how bout you do you have a lot of black dresses if so go for the white.

I like the black one too.  You could pair it with a sexy shawl in the fall and wear it to other things too.

    You look fabulous in both.

I concede to being in the minority here.  I picked the white one, because it was so pretty!  And now I say along with some others here, hope you can keep both!  I completely missed that thing about not wearing white at someone else's wedding.  Hope you have fun, no matter what you wear!
  • fearing said on Jul 25, 2008....
Oh and B's 20 yr. old friend votes the white one but his vote doesn't count.  ;-)
    Still the black one.

    lol!

Darn it! A day late'n a dollar short here. I personally do like both dresses very well. The black dress is a winner tho. It's shape and form is perfect especially when you're wearing it. Not sure about the type of party but a tat more risque' would be better from my view. A touch more cleavage, the hemline an inch or two shorter. Perfect shoes, maybe brownish thigh high hose. There's no doubt in my mind that you'd be the center of attention of the party.

Please do have lot's of fun,,, HO

For anyone interested. I wore the black dress as everyone suggested and got lots of compliments. I wore the shawl in church and afterwards, but removed it at the reception. It was a lovely hot day in the UK and we danced the night away :-)...
I had a crappy morning. Nothing significant, just this overwhelming feeling that no one listens to me. I hate being underestimated. Twice now, I told the surgeon that I work with that a patient had some serious issues brewing only to be brushed aside....
