I've discovered a brilliant weight-loss strategy.  I should market this; I could make billions!

It's simple, actually.  Every time you sit down to eat a meal, a cat will sit beside you and harf all over your carpet.  After a few weeks, the mental associations you will make between eating food and seeing/smelling/cleaning cat harf will be enough to put you off food forever!

BAM! Instant diet success!

(Seriously...that's twice this week during breakfast and once during dinner.  There are two places in our apartment where the tile floor is covered - in the living room, by an area rug, and in the bathroom, by a towel serving as a bath mat.  They hit them both.)

I'm so sorry about your floors...and your inability to eat in peace...or at all.

Have you gotten the cats checked out??

tbs: Thanks.  The floors aren't such a big deal - it's just an area rug from Wal-Mart and an old bath towel.  It's just the grossness factor.

No, haven't had them checked out lately but I'm pretty sure it's nothing out of the ordinary.  It's just hairballs and overeating.  These cats shed more and puke more than any I have ever seen (and I've had 14 cats in my lifetime).  They both have a lot of fur (one extremely long, the other extremely thick) and they are both neurotic about food. They sometimes run out of food overnight; they're well-fed and probably not even hungry, but they freak out because the bowl is empty.  Then when I feed them they eat like there's no tomorrow and, of course, get sick.

I keep threatening to make them into soup but they don't seem scared of me ;)  They know I'm a big softie at heart!  A big, grossed-out softie.

Wow, that would certainly make me contemplate eating locked in my bedroom alone.  (which I suppose would make me as neurotic as the cats)

Ewww! I hope they cut that out soon, or at least pick non-mealtimes for it! Blechhh.

Ed - somehow...I don't think a cat would think of a trout as negative feedback ;)

    Maybe celery.
