So at lunch, since I'd had such good luck yesterday, I went to check out a new thrift shop. It's a little further downtown than I usually go. It's not like I thought I had money, but looking is free, right?
I found the place after several sessions of multiple turn arounds and such. Tucked next to a St. Vincents. (yipee!!! a twofer) I'm once again annoyed with this city's passion for parking meters and drop the last of my silver coins in the meter which totalled $.20. It bought me 20 minutes, so I put a move on it.
As I looked at the clothes I bemoaned the fact once again that I'm not a twig, since it seems that mostly thin women donate to Goodwill and the likes. I almost picked up a quilted chinese red jacket in mint condition that was several sizes too small just on principal alone. Then I remembered that I should be looking for stuff for me. (part of my new looking out for me program)
Found a pair of lovely leaf motif earrings that would look nice with the antique brooch (walnut and leaf design) I was given for my birthday. I did leave it there. I need to really consider how often I'd wear it. Several really cool pieces of serve ware in unusual designs.
The thing I found most interesting was a hand operated blender. You know, the old fashioned two wand things that you turn the crank on the wheel to rotate? It reminds me of many a day spent in both my mom's and my oma's kitchen. I could picture myself whipping up the eggs for an omelette or a quiche. Unfortunately it was $1.50 and all I had in my wallet (apparently someone's been in my wallet - Sweetie!!!) was $1 and I wasn't about to use my credit card for that small a purchase.
I'm gonna go home tonight and chase my daughter around the house until the money drops out of her. Stinker! Then, I have to go back and hope no one else is as sentimental a fool as me. Do I need this? No. But what has that got to do with it?
