  i guess i'm a lot more patient than you are, but yes, in exactly two cases of prima-donna staff employees, i put my foot down, read 'em the riot act, and gave 'em a 24-hr ultimatum.
  
  employees who have valid domestic or health problems, or transient moods, i can readily understand. but an immature runt with a consistently bad attitude has to be dealt with asap like a bubonic plague outbreak. meaning, stamp it out right now before it infects the lot. lol.

     Over here in the States there are alot of drivers operating buses, tractor trailers and heavy equiptment vehicles with automatic transmissions. W T F is wrong with these people. Why in hell would you want to drive a big rig with an automatic ? I could'nt stand it . . I'd feel like a big pussy out on the highway driving an automatic in a big rig (bus, heavy equiptment and larger semi 's) I myself need to feel that power I apply when I'm shifting gears, hell it almost feels sexual to me if I'm driving a fast car.Over the last 15 years I've owned several Porsche's the last one was a truck with a  manual  6 speed with o/d. I did'nt like it , it just was'nt the same, I was happy when it was stolen. The hapiness was shortlived I'm still going through litigation with the insurance co.because it was only a couple of months old and they don't want to pay for full replacement. I know I'll spend more money fighting them with attorney  fee's , but thats ok I'll feel better in the end. I want to buy another 911 one day but the old lady says it has to have an automatic . . .well that ain't going to happen.

  I'm always amazed at what people will put up with as employers.  Like many above, it's one thing to tolerate a temporary condition or a disability that happened on the job, but when it starts to affect how you can do business I am likely to push for giving ultimatums too.  He's being manipulative and up to now it's worked beautifully since no one wants to be the "bad guy".  You go girl!

  I agree with U-I, Lucy - this guy sounds as though he was being very manipulative.  You had every right to put your foot down.  If he has a legitimate problem with his ankle, there should be formal araangements made & he should be a little more appreciative of the accomodations.

  There are times when being a bitch is an asset, my friend.  When people call me that, I usually take it as a compliment :)

  Moon my husband always asks me in to negotiate large contracts because he knows I'm tough and can handle idiots... its the one reason he never talks about money and refers people to me.

  As for this guy I just had enough, everyones comments bar CJ ~ (rat bag) are correct thanks!

  I think in the future i will indeed feel complimented when my negotiating skills are put to good use within the business structure.

  CJ ~ Man did you go off track or what!!!!!!!!!!! te he hee hey you are talking to the converted here.... hubby and I have three cars one a british sports car that drives like a bitch on heat.... manual has to be manual I will not drive an auto in any shape or form.. gotta feel the ride.
