So, I returned my last book to the library and picked up 3 more.  I had a hard time settling into any of them, but eventually I managed a couple of chapters in a book called "Fire Wife".  I'll let you know if the book is worth a read in a few days when I'm done.

In the book it speaks of people being made of water (calm) and/or fire (passion).  There is apparently 4 parts to the person and depending who you are you have a mix of those two elements.  In the book, the woman is 4 parts fire, her parents are 3 parts water and 1 part fire, her husband is 2 parts water and 2 parts fire.

Okay, I don't know about you, but if I were going to describe a person in relation to elements, I'd want to add wind (flighty) and earth (stable), so I will.  Are you following me? (If not, don't feel bad as I'm barely following me.)  Hang in there, there is a point to this.

So, if I described myself this way (four parts with 4 kinds of elements) I would say that I'm 1 part earth, 1 part wind and 2 parts fire.  I see myself as a mix of stable and flighty, but with no (or very little) calm as a natural part of my personality.  I am definately passionate, about a lot of things, not just love.

So, tell me how you would define yourself and why.  Do you think my own description (based on what you know of me) is accurate, or would you describe me otherwise?

unique- I have a complaint with your quiz in that there aren't enough parts to explain me. Because of that I have to leave out wind and fire completely and say two parts earth (stable) and two parts water (calm). I can't include fire or flighty because they don't equal the other two. I need two parts of each to explain me. I feel cheated (which, of course, is all your fault).

BTV - LOL oh no you dont!! (fire side kicks up)  You are not thinking creatively my friend.  How about a 1/2 part each of wind and fire?  Is that enough to 'splain you?
  • beyondtheveil said on Jul 22, 2008....
unique- No, its not enough, but I'll try (sometimes you just have to kick people in the butt).

    1-1/2 part earth (stable)
    1-1/2 part water (calm)
    1/2 part wind (flighty)
1/2 part fire (passion)...at least its closer...I'm never difficult, you understand. Its always those fire and wind people.

BTV - I dunno.  You seem a little complex to me :) (In a good kind of way)

I gotta go with beyond. I wanted five parts (2 water, 2 earth, 1 fire) but if I can't have that, I'll do 1.5 earth, 1.5 water, and 1 fire. :-p

TIO - what is with you SC people!!!  5 parts! hmpf!  Okay, if you need to, I'll (begrudingly) give you 5 parts.  I do agree that you're mostly water and earth.

unique- I came back to this post and had to laugh out loud. Its just not your day for dividing parts, is it?

I'm definitely 3 parts fire and 1 part air. The words calm and stable are foreign to me :-P

ET - LOL, I can definately see that you're mostly fire, but I think you don't give yourself much credit in the stable department.

interesting...you know the medieval medical understanding of green bile, black bile, blood and phlegm is based on the four greek elements?

i believe i'm probably more blood than i am anything else. but i think i'm 3 parts blood... :D

    so how's the book?

SW - I'll admit my ignorance.  What are the four greek elements?  Does blood relate to fire somehow?

The book is mediocre.  I think there is potential for more from the author, but she stops short of really hitting the mark.

the four greek elements are air, water, earth & fire, and you can learn more about the relationships here, if you're interested.

SW - thanks!  I've always heard them referred to as the four elements. (no greek involved)
  • silverwhisper said on Jul 29, 2008....
yeah, they're also sometimes called the classic elements: as in so many such cases (or at least, so i find), "classic" = greek. :>
