mainly because it broke with how the comic strip shows.  It is not true to the storyline. it had so many twists in it that it wasn't even enjoyable watching, for me.

really? i thought it was perfectly in keeping with the comic books--far moreso in fact than the previous incarnations. sure, it changed the canon, but it respected the mood & identity far more, i thought.

do you think they really killed off the DA, or is he going to be a villian in future episodes?  probably not, because of maintaining the cover-up, on second thought.

Good point silverwhisper!  One of the inspirations of Heath Ledger's The Joker is the graphic novel The Killing Joke.   The Dark Knight sticks to the comics big time, it just depends on which comics your used to reading.  The Dark Knight ditches the campier Batman, as seen especially in Batman Forever, Batman & Robin and The 60's "Holy Crap Batman you smell like a sewer" Adam West series.  The Dark Knight, as well as Batman Begins, draws from darker comics such as The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller and especially Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight which chronicles Batman at the beginning of his career (so-to-speak) as a superhero.  He is still finding himself, testing his strengths, testing his weaknesses, and learning to juggle his real self with his daytime masquerade as Bruce Wayne Extraordinaire Billionaire.  Of course, Batman is who he really is and Bruce Wayne is his mask.  I am not sure how many people understand that.  Bruce's true birth was when his parents died.  That is the moment that transformed him into what he becomes and drives him to do what he does.  Anyway, I digress.  I agree with Silverwhisper that this is certainly keeping with the comics.
