Well....I am absolutely in awe of Obama's arrogance. While he's on his european tour, where he is embarassed that all we can say is Mercy Boucoup when he doesn't speak spanish or french, he intended to speak in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Germany. All I have to say is Wow. How arrogant can a man be.
We've had 2 presidents speak in front of the gate. First was JFK, who committed to going to war to protect Europe. The second was Reagan (remember the line "Mr Gorbechev, tear this wall down"). Both were invited. No other presidents have. Not Johnson, Nixon, Carter, Bush 41, Clinton or W. Bush 41 was invited when the wall came down, but he declined because he did not want to distract from the moment.
So, what exactly has Obama done that justifies his ASKING to speak at the gate? Hell, he hasn't even written a significant piece of legislation in the senate. Fortunately, the Germans said "ummmm...dude....we don't think so."
I honestly believe that Obama thought he was entitled to speak there. After all, he is the savior of us all...even Germany. This is why he is considered by many to be an elitist. You have the comments in California which sparked it (and the real story was missed....he said "they blame trade" after he spoke out so vehemently against NAFTA...which we now know was just a campaign becoming "heated"). His wife has made several comments that indicate it. Remember that Obama will make "demands" of us...and how his presidency is going to result in the lowering of the oceans.
I truly believe this man is going to be our next president. But, he's not there yet and he has done NOTHING to deserve to speak in front of the Brandenburg Gate. That is a privilege reserved for presidents who have protected Europe and put forth action to promote freedom...and in Reagan's case actually be the primary reason it was achieved.
Why this wasn't a bigger story I do not know. I don't know why people think it's not a big deal. To me, it just confirms what I've thought of this man, and it should cause others to at least question him.
