She couldn’t stop crying as he drove away
Her tears were raining hard just like the heavy storm that was passing through
His eyes were stained with the pain he left behind
He could hardly see the road they hurt so deeply from his own tears
The cold hard words that rang out in the doorway of their first home together
The screaming the neighbors could hear over the thunderous booms so loud
Each word rang both true and yet, false in their eyes
Did it really matter who left the damn window open?
Did it matter that she forgot to bring in the new rug?
Did it matter that he was forgetful himself?
