A lack of experience doest make one's ideas ant less valid. What's more is that many americans feel that one of the big problems in US government is corruption in theory the less time you've spent there the less corrupt you ought be
Many Americans are not informed enough to have a valid opinion. We have left it to the lobbyist because of apathy about our government.
In my humble opinion, if Obama is elected the country will go into a period of paralysis. Nothing will get done except what the special interests want. He will stumble from mistake to mistake. Making speeches to preach to us. Telling us is our own fault for our problems instead of offering solutions.
The whole government is not corrupted. There are a lot of politicians in Washington who are doing good work for the people. But we never hear about it.
The lobbyist filled a void when they saw that the people didnt care about their government. Have anybody looked at the number of people voting versus the number who are eligible. It's a disgrace.
I agree that many, I'll even go as far as to say most Americans aren't informed enough to have a valid opinion. Of course the same is basically true and has been true for all time it's human nature. We really aren't THAT social. We really just want to be left alone to live our lives.
The country won't go into paralysis, at the very least not any more than it already has cus you know the president really isn't supposed to do much and (now Bush and Chenney have done an impressive job of powering the presidency) but Congress is the problem and there in lies the key to the nation and how the public views the world.
If the public thinks that the democrats are no better than republicans and that's why nothing has gotten done since 06 then we might see a republican majority again or a functional tie.
If on the other hand the public believes that the Republicans are dragging their feet and intentionally holding back progress then we might see them driven to a very minimal minority.
In a democratic state we cant afford to "just want to be left alone to live our lives"
I don't understand statements like "the president isn't supposed to do much" He is suppose to try push the platform he was elected on. But maybe with the currrent leadership in Congress Obama will just be a rubber stamp for what Pelosi and that crowd want to pass.
The paralysis will happen when the enemies of Obama, Pelosi etc put obstacles in their way. Then the bickering will start with an eye to the elections of 2010.
You make some valid points. Stay involved and make your vote count.
1. In a democractic state it's taken us two hundred some odd years, a very young country in the grand scheme of things to rise to be the greatest nation this world has ever known with most people being left alone to live their lives. It's better that way.
2. You're right that Obama wil largely be a rubber stamp for Congress, or atleast might be. We'll see the truth is that we don't know enough about him to know what he'll do.
3. The paralysis really depends on what the public believes come 2010. Are the dems failing to get things done because they are failurs or are the remaining republicans dragging their feet and screwing them over. Unfortunately public opinion is fickle and unpredictable.
