I don't know about anyone else, but I am sick of our politicians whining about the poor. The socialist zipperhead Bernie Sanders who is the "independent" senator from Vermont goes on constantly about poverty. He got elected by posing in front of old people with a message of "standing up for the downtrodden." Of course the first thing Bernie would do if he had the chance is follow along the socialist mindset of taxes, taxes, more government, and more taxes.
We should help the poor, not use the poor for political expediency. The reality of our country is there is always going to be a percentage of people who are living in poverty. If anyone glanced at the last census bureau report it shows this, that poverty dips a little up and a little down but overall stays at an average.
I think we need to seriously define what exactly is "poor". A welfare queen with subsidized living who sits around and does nothing except get fatter is not poor. Lazy people are not poor. There are sections of our society where people who work hard but have had a series of setbacks that have pushed them into destitution. These people we should help.
I don't buy into the taking from the rich and giving to the poor. The rich earn their money and should not be punished with relentlessly high taxes. Another definition then needs to be clarified is "rich." There are people who the government considers wealthy who are far from it yet they pay taxes as if they are. Be weary of politicians who cry about the poor, they don't care. If they cared they would instead of giving a hand-out would give a kick in the behind and a measure of motivation. This is America and anyone can be rich if they just work hard don't give up.
