Who's reading CreativeWoman (613):
It's late a night
The house is closed up tight

I should be asleep
But I don't like counting sheep

My mind doesn't want to rest
It doesn't really know what's best

My body says its had enough
My mind says well that's just tough

So into the edge of night I brink
Until my silly mind can no longer think

Then I will stretch out for the night
Unless I wake in a certain fright

My mind will churn my dreams
Sometimes eliciting screams

Not always remembered
Often feeling distant and splintered

I wish for a peaceful rest in store
As I walk through slumber's door

Hi CW. Most of my dreams nowadays are exactly like what you said...  "Not always remembered ... Often feeling distant and splintered." And there are nights like that too -- not being able to sleep, the body saying Rest! while the mind says, Keep awake!, or sometimes vice versa.

I like the format of your poems -- simple and straightforward images, but carrying profound meaning.

Asleep or not, have yourself a peaceful night, my friend. :-)

Thank you, moon.  My mind isn't ready to give in to sleep just yet.  :-)  I appreciate your kind words about my poems.  You are quite a weaver of words, so yours carry much weight.

CW ~ I hope you finally drifted off to sleep!  I liked your poem.  :)  I know how that feels when your mind just won't quiet so the body can rest!  Have a good day ~

I liked your poem CreativeWoman, Whenever I try to write one it starts out ok but then fails miserably. But at least I made an attempt I guess. I hope you finally got to sleep.   Take care Creativewoman.

Wow!  I love your poem, CW.  I have the same problem sometimes (sleeping at night).  That's great that you were able to create a poem expressing the problem.

I like your poem CW.....  have you tried meditation? It teaches you to relax and let go and you can easily turn that into sleeping.

CW, this is really great!!  Wonderfully composed and it even has that soft dreamy kind of flow that makes one want to whisper the words.  Well Done!

    CayenneMan,
Thank you. I did finally get some rest.  Is your poem on your blog?  I will look for it soon.  :-)  Take care.

    Zaraida,
Thank you.  I'm glad you could identify with it.  :-)

    MMI,
    Thank you.  I try.  :-)

    woman,
I'm still finding myself up late, but I feel sleep will come quickly tonight when I try.

    Rc,
I learned an anchor technique today at my hypnotherapy session which I am using to find peace.  I think it will help my mind to slow down for sleep as well.  Do you have a favorite meditation that you use?

    polar,
Thank you.  I appreciate that so very much.

I used quite frequently the numbers 3-key word or phrase-2-key word or phrase-1-key word or phrase but always preferred the doing the mental visual starting at the forehead and ending at the toes instead of vice-versa as that was the way I was taught. ( I took a biofeedback class which led to a hypnosis class.)
Then you insert your favorite/preferred suggestion.
I remember at the time I had a fiesty girlfriend always arguing about something and at class we practiced a relaxation suggestion which was left purposely active (as opposed to a regression class in which we made sure that everyone was brought back to the present and aware of it) and that night my then girlfriend had a tough time getting my goat (which she seemed to enjoy) and I think got upset when she couldn't do it. (LOL)

    Ed,
Thank you.  :-)  I haven't written much just for the fun of it lately.

    Rc,
I place my hand over my heart and repeat a word that triggers the feelings of my most peaceful moment.  I just started using this anchor yesterday afternoon.  It will help me with stress in general as I feel I need it, but it particular with my weight loss.  You sound quite accomplished with it.  :-)
