Had to walk across at least three crosswalks today and each time, there I stood watching the traffic--wondering if this would be the day I got run over by being stupid.
The first time, traffic came to a halt both ways, and I waved at the front vehicle on each side in a thank you for stopping.
The second time, I had to wait for several cars to pass until finally one side stopped, but then I had to be sure the other side would do the same.
The third time, I waited while two big rigs met at the stop and whizzed on by----didn't even want to get my feet wet there.....
But then several more vehicles sped by in each dirrection before one finally slowed and let me know I was seen and wanting to cross.
So then I had to look in the other direction and see if the oncomming traffic was going to do the same.
After a couple of cars ( and a guy in an ugly green Jeep), the line slowed down and let me cross.
I waved as I crossed.
I felt like they appreciated the wave.
I felt like I appreciated them stopping at the crosswalk.
Takes a certain kind of person to pay attention and care.
Nice to realize that I am one of those people!
