I know I've been bad at keeping people caught up lately.

Linebacker is walking fairly well at 13 months, is a monster when he's teething, and flashes million-dollar grins every time he catches me looking at him. Sometimes he giggles and rushes over for a snuggle before moving away to start his next adventure.

Little one is a chatterbox, but a potty-trained one! That happened in pretty much the span of a week, with very little guidance and a whole lot of rewarding from us. I love how independent she is, but she's still a cuddlebug. :) She doesn't nap regularly, but she's fallen asleep twice on me in the past few weeks in the afternoon, and I love that time -- even if she doesn't fit as well in my lap as she once did!

We put in an offer on a modest but promising house today. We'll see where that takes us.

The real estate agent we've been working with is a nice guy, ex-military friend of the family. DH had to leave to go get something from home at one point this afternoon, and I stayed behind at the agent's office with the kids.

It didn't take long, maybe 20 minutes tops for DH to return, but in those 20 minutes, I learned a lot.

Sometimes people randomly spill their life stories to me. This was one of those times. I asked a simple question and got a very big answer. But you know, I think people do that because a lot of the time they don't get to talk out their thoughts, their hopes and dreams and things like that. And I like hearing them.

Somewhere in there, he offered me a job!

Now, this happens to me on a fairly regular basis. I don't know how common it is for other people, but a lot of the time if I walk into a place and talk to a salesperson or whoever else for a moment, they end up pressing an application form into my hands or asking me to consider working for them. Sometimes it's sales-related, sometimes it's administrative, sometimes it's another random position I never would have thought to consider.

I am not one of those super-confident, charismatic people with that "it" factor. But it happens anyway, and I'm kind of stumped as to why. It keeps things interesting though. :-p I don't know quite how I come across to people in person, but apparently it's not too horrible.

[shrug]

I think that's about it for the night. Sleepy just hit me like a ton of bricks.

I like the way you wrote this blog. And the bombshell -- a job offer. Are you considering it? I sure hope so, although I realize the complications that could bring to your family priorities.

But yes, knowing in your mind that you bump into such offers without really trying, is a great confidence booster. I hate this cliche but... you go girl! :-)

What sort of job did he offer you? That's pretty cool. Are you thinking about it? The extra money could come in handy for the new house. But it's probably not feasible right now for you to think of taking it huh?

You just have that certain something I guess that people are really drawn to :-)

That's pretty cool that you got offered a job! What kind of work did he want you to do? I don't usually get job offers randomly like that, but people do tend to tell me their entire life story for no reason. I guess I must have something about me that makes people want to talk :-P

I'm keeping my fingers crossed about your house. I think you'll get it! I dreamt about it, remember? :-P

moon: I'm glad you liked this. And thank you. :)

ed: I'll work on pics later...any excuse to show them off. :-D

Jaxl: It was an administrative/secretarial-type position. I wouldn't mind, it'd be easy work...but I have no way to afford childcare and come away with any money in my pocket! I passed it up, but thanked him for the opportunity.

And thanks. :) I don't see it, but it'd be weird if I did, I think.

Kyle: You do have that something that makes people want to talk about their lives with you, don't you? Thanks for keeping your fingers crossed...if your dream was any indication, I shouldn't worry. ;-)

My mom is one of those people, too--well, minus the job offers. She's not particularly outgoing or anything, but others have a way of gravitating toward her so they can spill their life stories. The first week she was at her current job, everyone in her department (about 14 people at the time) had done this, and it happens pretty often elsewhere as well.

Only once did I get an out-of-the-blue job offer. My ex and I were buying homeowners' insurance when the agent offered us both jobs at the local university, where his father-in-law was a top-level administrator. I don't know that the son-in-law had any authority to do this, but whatever. We thanked him, but we both had other jobs at the time. A couple of months later, we were both offered (and accepted) positions as adjuncts there, but that was due to our own efforts.

    Good luck with the house-buying!
