I can't believe they let you go over the phone! That is incredibly callous. They sure as hell better be willing to let you in to retrieve your personal items.
I'm sorry, wombie. I think you were treated very shabbily. I hope you find another better job very soon. Until then, you and I can watch Price is Right together!
Thats such a bummer wombie... I know you liked that job a lot! damn.... well now all you can do is to start looking for the door that just opened right?? one door closes another opens... has to be better has to be fabulous!
Don't worry about money, there are ways and means for almost everything! including tom dick and harry!
So sorry to hear about this. This is totally unprofessional.
Don't worry. Whatever happens - happens for the best. Good Luck and hope that your enjoy your forced sabbatical. S
Sure something good will come out of all this.
Wombie - That SUCKS! It was TOTALLY unprofessional and more importantly totally obnoxious the way that they did this! I am appalled by the lack of consideration! And although I have had similar "we no longer need your services" messages delivered in such a horrendous message, it still galls me that people have the audacity to do it this way!
That said, enjoy a few weeks of unemployment, and then figure out what you want to be when you grow up. I am a true believer that EVERY THING happens for a reason and that the Universe will provide you with an even better position.
Good luck! Smooches!
CW: Thanks--and yes it was a very crappy way of doing it!
RollingC: I had to make an appointment, then walk with the lady to get my stuff across the street. I stood outside the building, looking around at familar cars and my old smoking spot....ha.
crybabylu: Yes, it was a shocker! I found out this morning that I won't draw very much, but I put in an application at another place already!
scipio: Thank you--I hope something better will come along--one that won't get rid of me after just 4 months!
CayenneMan: Thanks! Loved the video---I want to see that movie, whatever it was! It made me smile when I watched it.
quietone: I asked about a reference, and she said they only confirm that you worked there such and such time, from the main corporate office! I am hanging in there as best I can so far...day of of no job. Thank you for being there for me.
FutureGoddess: I hope you are right--I usually believe things happen for a reason and that maybe something better will come along--but it feels so scary to think things might just keep going downhill!
silverwhisper: Thanks, I needed that! (the hug) and someone saying what I couldn't say to them in person--"you jerks!"
MillerLight: Yes, the phone was a crazy way to find out you don't have to set your alarm for work the next day!
MeMyself&I: Thank you. I will be needed those prayers....mostly worried about my depression returning like it did before when I was not working.
pickersplock: I am trying to look on the bright side. It's not easy, though. Yea, a roadtrip would be fun!
wombat, the video was based on the movie . . .
"Hudson Hawk" (1991) Bruce Willis & Danny Aiello
Hi Z: Good to see you! Thank you.....I hadn't missed a single day, did my job quietly and stayed busy. That didn't get me anywhere. They let several of the newest employees go. I hope I will find something, too. Or else can deal with a piddly check every week for awhile without going bonkers!
Right now, I am mentally tired....and think I will just curl up in bed with a good book under the air conditioner.
But thanks to you, and to all---I feel much better!
Wow, the things I miss ........ sheesh! I'm sorry to hear that the work jerks didn't have the integrity to let you go face to face. Once you're past the shock of being unemployed I hope you take a minute to contemplate whether or not this is the beginning of something better or just a break in the workload.
My PM is always open if you need to vent.
U-I: Thank you. I really don't know yet which this is.....a good thing or a bad thing. I woke up sort of scared and depressed, then flip-flopped and took a shower and made plans for the day. I have to fight to keep from curling up like a bug and not doing anything at all. But I will do my best to hang in there.
crybabylu: Thank you, too. It feels funny to be home.....I was outside for a minute and saw people I know driving to work there.....I thought, 'You'd better watch your P's and Q's! You could be next!"
gingersoul: It is unacceptable....but with nothing you can do about it! They didn't want scenes at work I guess. They called everyone they let go at home on a Sunday...unbelievable! If I am going to draw the piddley unemployment, I have to "look and document that I am looking" for a job, and also call in every week. I hate the whole process! I am better off just looking for a job for real--rather than having to go into places and saying, Are you hiring? Then writing down that I "checked." Such BS!
Thank you for the hug!
