As I said in another post I read just about half of Barack Obama's book The Audacity of Hope while on vacation.  I discovered that the man who wants to be President is a very smart, very well informed on the history of America, and certainly someone who loves America.  I found his writing to be very engaging and well thought out.

But....

It seemed to me, and maybe it will change when I finish reading the book, that he was campaigning.  He makes honest appeals that are in stark contrast to his record and how he will govern.  An example is this quote on page 158, "But our history should give us confidence that we don't have to choose between an oppressive, government-run economy and a chaotic and unforgiving capitalism.

Obama's stance on a number of issues suggests he is a pro-government regulation Liberal.  School vouchers, health care, taxing oil companies, they all show where he stands.  But this is damn smart!  Capitalism can be unforgiving and maybe we should look at how to lesson the blow for the less fortunate in our society

Why I stopped and went to another book....

Quote: "Just about every scientist outside the White House believes climate change is real, is serious, and is accelerated by the continued release of carbon dioxide.  If the prospect of melting icecaps , rising sea levels, changing weather patterns, more frequent hurricanes, more violent tornadoes, endless dust storms, decaying forests, dying coral reefs, and increases in respiratory illness and insect-borne disease-if all that doesn't constitute a serious threat, I don't know what does."

Sounds like bullet points from Al's movie.  Apparently Mr. Obama needs to do a little research.  I plan on doing several posts to debunk all of this crap.  When I got to this part on page168 I decided to move to the other books I had planned to read.

Bottom line....

Barack Obama is a brilliant man.  He has a love for Abe Lincoln as well as Martin Luther King and he recognizes there is a foundation of people that also hold this country together, people who often are not seen.  The factory workers, the waitresses, the mechanics, the accountants, and on and on.  With that said he seems to have been hoodwinked by a brand of socialist Liberalism that has infected our government.  He has blinders on and is attached to a dieing agenda.  I have hope that some day Obama will move to the right and become a Republican, lets not forget Reagan was once a Democrat.

    Ok a few points.

You're against school vouchers?  I would have assumed you were good with that just based on your other usual stances.

I'm less convinced on global warming, most specifically human beings direct influence on it.  Though it seems liek the right are starting to cling to a Gore said it therefore it's filth and lies (which the left does with Bush/Chenney)

No I am not against school vouchers, our public school system is why.  I think if schools competed with each other then teachers would have to succeed, it would weed out some of the terrible teachers and terrible kids we have in our schools now.

It is getting to the point that Al Gore has become the rights Bush/Cheney.  Al Gore would have waayyy more credibility if he debated someone.  I think this says volumes.

My problem with Obama's global warming stance is I know he hasn't researched it.  Look at his quote, if the United States cut our co2 emissions to what the crazies want are any of the things he mentioned going to change/get worse/get better as a direct result?  I don't think so.

Even Chris Mathews at MSNBC is starting to question Obama.
