We had a Wonderful BIG Storm last night.  It put the power out: for how many hours I do not know for sure (I was tired and went to bed).  But I had to go through the house and find candles and a lighter.. and since I do not smoke any more.. well: keeping a lighter has become a serious problem.  I sometimes buy them, 4 in a pack: but when I need one?  no. no.  they are all gone.  Taken by the teenagers.  grrrr.
And as you are groping in the dark, you are thinking..."hmm: I wonder if I could light it in the toaster?"  but- nah: there is no power!!  and, thankfully, the sun is not gone until after 9:00... but, it is still too dark to read..  and you think: "that is ok.  I needed to work on my meditation skills anyway."

I did find a lighter: in my son's room.  And it did have some fuel in it.  But I was sure to have several candles ready to go: did not count on being able to get more than one spark with flame: just in case, you know..  and I lit candles and knitted for a bit: until I was tired enough for sleep.
