i was meaning to post another writing exercise (sorry, guys!) but will leave that to monday--maybe posting it earlier in the week will give folks more time to take a crack at it.

so in the meantime: what've you guys got planned for the weekend? heh...here it is, friday morning, i have to get ready for work, and i'm already thinking about quitting time!

me: drinks w/ some coworkers after hours, a friend's b-day party tomorrow night at a turkish restaurant, then a little gaming-related stuff at some point soon.

incidentally: have watched torchwood. interesting BBC sci-fi show that apparently is a spin-off of dr. who. i'm not sure i need to see the second season when it's out (or second series, as the british call it).

how about you guys?

Ehhh...nothing really.  I have the noble ambition of doing some housecleaning but I'm guessing that won't last long!  I am really, really a terrible housekeeper.  We're still trying to get motivated to do our spring cleaning!

Poutine night tonight!  Probably we'll stay up late tonight playing World of Warcraft, sleep in tomorrow.  Get up, do groceries, come back and play more Warcraft and eat.  Saturday night is "Cops" + movie night; it's his week to pick the movie and I think he's torn between renting a movie or watching what is on the Space (Canadian version of Sci-Fi) channel because they're showing some good ones lately.  Then Sunday will be pretty much more of the same.

Watched In Bruges last week (my choice); great movie if you like dark comedy.

Also our anniversary is coming up this week, and this weekend would be the ideal time to celebrate if we're going to.  Unfortunately our anniversary falls during the two-three weeks of the year that are the most popular for people to take vacation in Quebec so we can't really do much to celebrate usually - everything's crowded and paradoxically it's hard to get time off.

I wonder if he's even thought of it yet ;)  Not that he doesn't know when it is, but more that he's been so busy at work, he may not have connected the abstract date number in his mind to an actual day occurring rather soon!

nothing much... i'll go to the doctor for a check up. maybe go to the mall or something... have fun at your weekend!!! =)

Sounds like you have a busy weekend Ed.  I'm wondering about the Turkish restaurant - I've never eaten at one.  I'd like to hear what you order.

I'm off today so my weekend has just begun.  Lunch with my best friend then I'm having my hair done today - yeah!!!!  No plans for tonight or tomorrow other than tackling an enormous mountain of laundry.  Try to soak up as much Scooter Bug time as I can because his year-round school starts Wednesday.

Sunday, I'm a bit bummed about.  I'll have to attend the church I work at for Sunday services because we are wrapping up Bible school this week there.  That doesn't bother me other than it makes me miss my own church and I think our pastor will be back from a 2 month trip to India this Sunday.

Not terribly exciting.  I'm being taken out to dinner for my birthday tonight.  :), so that will be nice.  Beyond that, errands tomorrow in the morning, and then ???

If we can swing it financially I'm going to take my daughter to the Asian Art Museum in SF.  There is a manga exhibit that she wants to see.  I'd also like to go to get a look at the Samurai Swords and other clothing displays.  I hear they can teach me to fold the crane.

It sounds like you have a nice weekend planned, Ed.

I will have to buy groceries at some point, but I'm not looking forward to that.  There is a small town fair going on this weekend nearby that I would love to go to.  I really enjoy those sorts of things.  Maybe I'll take myself to a movie too.  Otherwise, I'll be writing.

    Happy Friday, ed. :)

We're going to be spending the next couple of days cleaning (he has to work tomorrow, as always, so I mostly mean Sunday) and discussing which of three house possibilities we honestly want to consider from a bid-making standpoint. :-D We meet with our agent Monday to gear up for that...it's gonna be an interesting while.

I have a room that I am repainting. My sister is coming up next weekend and I want to have the room ready for her to stay in.
Other than that...I am vegging out.

Sounds like you have a full weekend planned!  Me, not much.  Maybe out to dinner, shopping, and possibly strawberry picking if it isn't too muggy out.

working a little over time and I may go to a mud volley ball game and watch it tomorrow.  It is an anual event and all proceeds go to a charity.  Its pretty fun.  Never been, but have seen pictures. Then back to the domestic duties, laundry, grocery, cleaning... bla...

Traveling out of town with husband and 2 of the grandchildren to attend a friend's birthday party. We will stay overnight at a hotel with a pool and the children will think they are on a grand adventure. Plan on returning home and returning the grandchildren to their parents on Sunday, and then resting up. I'll need it. I hope you all have a nice time and enjoy the summer.

    Hi Edikins!

So nice to see you :-)  I have seen some Torchwood and its a bit of fun, but I would not make special effort to watch it.

This weekend Mr Polar (wisely) put in some leave to spend some much needed family time with me and Tigger, now that I am fully recovered and Tigger is over his chickenpox.  We will just do lots of chores around the house and the grass needs mowing.

We also plan to go swimming as a family and also go and spend some time at the allotment.  We will be going to have dinner with some friends tonight.  So all in all I hope it will turn out to be a great weekend.

    Hope yours is just fabulous!

skald: o good, i like that you see the kids as often as you do. there are many, many grandparents who'd love to be able to say what you do. :>

nyt: ah, i'm retentive about cleaning--and sadly, the mrs is not, so we've reached a compromise, sorta. :> ah, so we've been losing you to warcrack, have we? heh...i'm unfamiliar with in bruges: qu'est-ce que c'est? and i'm sure mr. nyt's given some thought to how to mark your anniversary. :>

sis: thank you, am having fun already. just a routine check-up, right?

fearing: there aren't many that i've seen so i'm intrigued. i could try to remember the dish but i'm not sure i'll be able remember what's on the menu! so are you gonna post a pic of your new hair? :D your pastor's been in india for 2 months? mission work, conference, something else?

mimi: belated happy birthday! i'm sorry i missed this! and somehow, i have a sneaking suspicion about what that fence of ??? is hiding... :D

u-i: whew--at first i thought it was you that wanted to see the manga exhibit--i was thinking, "how did i not know she's interested in that?" and then i re-read. :D oo, folding a crane is cool stuff. i wasn't aware that there's an asian art museum in SF--but that does stand to reason, doesn't it? :>

CW: i'm curious to know if you'll be making it to the fair. :> are you still at work on your book or is this different writing of which you speak?

infernal: wait--i missed something--a bid on a house? jeez, i thought i was caught up w/ your blogs! crap!

vm: given what's been going on, that makes perfect sense!

wombat: oo, strawberry picking sounds like it would be great--if the weather holds!

quietone: mud volley ball? um...OK, is it me or does this sound like something that should be sponsored by a beer company?

woman: thank you, am indeed having fun, thanks. i'm curious, is the party far? i'm trying to understand how far you're going that an overnight stay is required. ?

polar: hey, good to see you again! and yeah, torchwood = meh, if you ask me--although i have that opinion of dr. who as well, i'm afraid. i'm glad tigger's recovered from the chickenpox and i'm glad mr polar is going to be around, esp now that you're feeling better. perhaps your recent dip into amorous expressions will result in more than words? ;> :D

eilan: you've always struck me as someone who's equally at home with a detailed schedule or taking things as they come, truth be told. :>

Mr. Z's sister is here for a visit. So Friday, we all spent some time with a few friends playing the WoW card game. Today, we kind of lazed about for awhile then went to a Butterfly house, a state park, and then did some shopping.

Tomorrow, we are going to an open house for a house that we are interested in. (So we are a bit behind Infernal in the house buying process, but moving that way as well).

After the open house, we are going to the Zoo to roam around and then to stay for a concert by the symphony.

We are extended our weekend through Monday since neither Mr. Z or I are working on Monday and his sister will still be visiting with us. If the weather is nice, we are going to do to the local disc golf course and spend some time on the course. If the weather is not cooperative, we are going bowling. Heck if the weather is cooperative, we might do both--disc golf and then bowling. Then, little Z-man has a softball game Monday night that we will be at.

Ed, how was the Turkish restaurant?  I'm anxious to hear how that was.  I might want to try it one day.  Happen to remember the dish you ordered?

I won't be posting pics of hair since it isn't anything new - just hair color but she did whack almost 2 inches off!  It's so long, I'm probably the only person who would notice it anyway.

My pastor goes there often.  He is helping local pastors build and work.  He goes there a few times a year but I don't remember him ever staying this long.  He's become almost fluent in Hindi (I think that's what they speak - too tired to look it up).  The last we heard from him, he was on his way to the Northern part where, as you probably know - Christians are being persecuted and killed.
  • fearing said on Jul 12, 2008....
The language is Telegu - not Hindi.

    Ed,
I did made it to the fair/street dance.  There were a lot of people there and the music wasn't really my cup of tea.  It was free though.  I am still writing on my book and I want to write some self hypnosis visualizations to record in my own voice.  I'm also working on some t-shirt sayings.  I'm a busy bee.

quietone: yeah, that one looked positively sedate, i thought! interesting to see the corporate sponsorships, though. :>

    infernal: ah...OK. [trout-smack!]

z: wow, looks like you guys are gonna be awfully busy! i hope all went well at the open house today! and enjoy today, z. :> oo, how was the concert?

fearing: it was awesome! not being too familiar with turkish cuisine, the mrs and i saw 2 things on the menu & decided we'd split 'em. they were kuzu tandir (tandir: large clay oven, probably not unlike the indian tandoor; kuzu, lamb: so lamb cooked in clay oven) and iskender kebap, grilled lamb served over turkish pita with a yogurt & tomato sauce. it was incredible! i'm surprised your pastor's learning telegu, but that's really impressive! actually, i wasn't aware christians are being persecuted there--what state(s)?

CW: i'm glad you made it to the fair after all, but it's a shame the music wasn't to your taste. :< i'm glad you're writing, though. :> if you're recording your voice already, consider posting a clip of that as part of a blog entry: you have a pleasant speaking voice. :>

Silver the trip to the zoo and the concert was great. The open house for one house not so great. Too many problems with the house. It would be a huge undertaking to rehab the house.
  • silverwhisper said on Jul 15, 2008....
well, at least the zoo & the concert were awesome, and that's cool! my sympathies re: the open house but i'm sure there'll be another one you like even better!
