It seems that China has issued an official decree. One of the dietary staples of that country, dog meat, is officially off the menu of restaurants and hotels for the duration of the olympic games because the government of that country doesn't want to offend animal rights groups or people who might find it abhorant.
Now, I've never eaten dog, and I understand that in our culture, the fact that dogs are domesticated pets make it seem terrible to us that people eat them. But China is a totally different culture with different customs and traditions.
Let me put it this way. Does that mean that the next time America hosts the olympics, we will have to take cow meat off the menu so we don't offend the people from India that might come here? Good luck making that fly!
It just seems silly to me!
