I seem to have a thing for flowers.  There are beds around my house with perennials, and beds with annuals, and some with a mixture, but this year, i seem to have lots of flowers in the yard....more so than i normally do.

They put me in a good mood. And maybe i have more flowers this year because i need this "good mood" nudge more than i have in the past----

Anyway,  I really enjoy sitting outside and watching things blossom around me, and often i'll take my laptop out on the deck to work, and no matter how stressful the day is, if i look around, there's something beautiful to see.

There's something about planting and having my hands in the dirt that's good for my soul.

Do you have anything that makes you feel this way?

secret -- i know the exact feeling. puttering among plants and trees, whether in my backyard, a favorite grove, or in the mountain wilds, refreshes me like no other activity. i think there's a scientific basis for this -- plant growth generating a low-powered EMF that influences our own bodies and minds positively in yet unquantified ways.

Ummmm....can you come here and do some gardening for me?
Lovely flowers!  You're so awesome at gardening!  Miss. Garden State USA!  :-)
I touch things with green leaves and stems and the die on the spot!

Little D. bought me a hanging plant and I was pulling off the dead stems and then HALF (that's right, not the WHOLE) thing died!

Yes, I know you have a thing for flowers. I remember your flower posts from last year. Those are lovely and yes, flowers make me feel like this too.

mmi:  hey girl!  been thinking bout you and sending lots of good thoughts your way.  i think this whole "hands in the dirt" thing is related to wanting to "nurture"!
it's very rewarding to make things grow and thrive and respond to our "hands"....

killie girl:  the reason i end up with poison ivy or oak or sumac is because i'll often just walk around the house and pull weeds without putting on a pair of gloves.  i always say..."oh just one", and an hour later i'm covered in dirt with a pile of weeds in my bag!

mamietta:  i'm a sucker for daisies!  and gerber daisies are so colorful.  i'll bet your flower garden brings you lots of joy!

moon:  you might be onto something there!  i mean why else would we want to put our hands in the dirt???  i can think of no logical reason....
    lol

woman:  i used to have a brown thumb.  lol...and still some years i'll try new plants and not do so well, but the perennials have been my salvation (after i gave up trying to grow heather)!  they take alot less care than the annuals, and get bigger and bigger each year.  many, like the lilies are very hardy and spread like crazy!

queenie:  thanks sweetie!  yes, being in tune with nature is definitely part of the whole thing.

daily:  lol garden state USA!!!!  now i would have guessed that Mr. D would have a green thumb!  especially with how he is with your lawn!

i bought myself a couple of hanging baskets this year, and normally i put them in the front of the house on a hanger.  this year i figured out that they get too much sun and no matter if i water them every single day, i cannot keep them from drying out-  so what i did was hang them under a shade tree in the side yard a few days a week-  and you should see how well they do away from direct sun!  i've actually brought back a few things from near-death this year!

skald:  i remember that post and the flowers from last year.  it was springtime and i have a whole different bunch of things blooming here in the spring!  but i missed taking pictures of the iris, peony, and the tea roses!  i wanted to but got sidetracked by other things.  so i'll probably post yet another flower post next spring!!!!
