Yup, sorry to disillusion you all, but its the truth.

I know in my head what the "right" thing is to do, but its darn hard for me to do it.

I actually WANT to do the WRONG thing!

Does anyone else ever feel this way?  Or am I alone in this boat?

    Relax, you're human.

The "wrong" thing is so tempting some times.  It's usually easier, might allow you to blow steam off, etc.

I'm less a role model for doing the right thing and more of an example of what happens when you do the wrong thing!
  • pickersplock said on Jul 08, 2008....
    Well, it depends.
Some things are just a given because it's part of my make up.
    Others, not so easy.
  • gingersoul said on Jul 08, 2008....
Pollie........psst....between us.....I often do the wrong thing.....

Take it easy, anyway.......as long as you don't hurt anybody....especially yourself........wrong doing feels just so right sometimes........

Make room in your boat for me, polarbeanie.  I almost always know what the right thing to do is, so no excuses.  Sometimes I just don't want to.

uni, that's like a quote I saw a while back.  If I can't set a good example, at least let me serve a s a terrible warning.  Or something like that.  LOL

  • wombat said on Jul 08, 2008....
This is a time to make justifications to oneself, and make "wrong right."  I am a master of it...

But keep in mind that two wrongs don't make a right.

I think that is meant to say, the first time is ok, but then you wake up and realize you made a mistake.

Do it twice, and you are just pushing your luck.

Don't mind me.....I have been pushing my luck on decisions I made eons ago....
  • Lucytorial said on Jul 08, 2008....
Ohh lord Polar.... the wrong thing is really tempting... at the moment I know some wrong decisions have turned out right?? if ya get that one.

I don't often DO the wrong thing, but I'm a master at SAYING the wrong thing
  • moonriver said on Jul 08, 2008....
moonriver kung futzu say, me usually not do what i know is wrong thing... unless that nice little thingie is so temptingly delicious and deeply satisfying, me see it as absolutely right for the moment. me deal with bad consequences later, if ever they knock on my door.

i only have one safety catch: before i do anything, i always ask, "what if...?" and weigh all the possible replies in my mind. if the replies all point to the need to unlock that safety catch, i go in and enjoy the "bad thing" to the fullest. otherwise, i hold back and find other tempting things to do that feel more right. lol.

what are you about to get up to my dear ???
The 'wrong' thing is always the more tempting,as it is often the easy way out or the more comfortable of the 2 options to do
If the 'wrong' thing has dire consequences then you need to take those into account, should they arise. You wouldnt want anything to come back and bite you in the bum !!!
    Please Be Careful
    Take care

Well I can tell you not to long ago the " Low Fuel "  guage light in my truck started to blink so I pulled into the first gas station I came up to. I did'nt like the price of thier gas and I knew I could get it cheaper down the road closer to home. So I went inside and paid $25.00 in cash for pump 8 ( that's not much but enough ). I went back outside and started pumping. When the meter started to get close to the $ 25 dollar mark I prepared to pull the pump out. But nope . . . it did'nt stop it just kept on going . I felt a smile growing on my face . . . $ 75, $ 85,  . . . . I stopped the pump at $ 125.00 but I could have kept on going. My gas tank holds over 35 gallons. I thought about leaving but I knew the on duty attendant would end up paying the bill at the end of his shift. I went in and explained what happened and the creep never even thanked me !  You've really got my curiosity polarheart. If you ever have a problem feel free to pm me . It will remain confidential.

i find its when i try and do the right thing that im actually doing the wrong thing- but good intentions and all that!
  • silverwhisper said on Jul 09, 2008....
polar, you're speaking unusually elliptically. to me, this means that you're struggling with something that's important to you.

so what i say to you is this: you know what the right thing is. the wrong thing is a temptation, and if temptation were easy to ignore, it would not be important to resist it.

knowing that a thing is wrong and doing it anyway, without any ability to justify it, is itself wrong, polar.

    please keep that in mind?

Umm... How could you think you were alone in this boat? Unless you think we all don't know what is right and wrong and only you do, or that we know what is right and always want to do it. I think it is perfectly human to sometimes want to do the wrong thing. The good thing is that you know it when it's wrong. Some people are clueless as to what is right and wrong it seems. Heck I know I shouldn't be buying expensive rare CDs now but I just ordered two yesterday because I really wanted to. I have to stay off Amazon for a while.
  • fearing said on Jul 09, 2008....
    Yup, I'd say you're human.

I'm always infinitely more curious about the story behind these kinds of posts than the statements in them.   You know like this for example - I'm not surprised you probably would might rather flip off than driver that made you mad than pray for them (lol).  But then that just gets me to thinking what really sparked this post.  (smile)   Oh, and that one about being a sexual human........yeah, I bet there's a story behind that one too.   No, you just leave us wondering!  Ha ha!

I love ya Polarkins!  We all think you are great.  Having the same human emotions and needs as the rest of us doesn't make us think less of you.

Sidenote, if hubby makes you mad and you "want" to sew up all the leg holes in his underwear to get even - don't.
  • hotaka said on Jul 09, 2008....
fearing, that last word of advice - have you tried?
  • destinydiva said on Jul 09, 2008....
I am always in that boat polar!!  :-) xx
  • husbandhater said on Jul 09, 2008....
Polar say a prayer for me sweets I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. Especially right now. Take a deep breath. I'm fighting to NOT do the wrong thing and the temptation to sooo do the wrong thing right now when in my heart I know what the right thing would be. I hope you find your way to the right thing. And I hope I do to.
  • quietone said on Jul 09, 2008....

    sorry polardoodle, as you can see, you are not alone in the boat.  Its not so much the thought of doing the right or wrong thing.. what matters is which one you actually act on.  {{{{{{hugs}}}}}

  • skald said on Jul 09, 2008....
Polar.  None of us want to do the right thing all the time. It's just like Quiet says which matter is which one you actually act on. ((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))

Temptation is everywhere in many forms.  We all face it to a certain degree.  I wish you the best in whatever you are struggling with.

Polar, I missed the bad tag and related comments.  I miss everything.  By the way, it never even crossed my mind the subject you were referring to was about cheating.

@ Hotaka, lol!  No, but I've sure thought about it.
