I didn’t realize that I could be this sore and now that I am, I don’t like it. No, ma’am, I do not like it at all.
A couple of weeks ago, I was asked by my neighbor if I minded helping him move. I said that I didn’t, and I still don’t. My neighbor is a really good guy. I ended up working late on Friday night, replacing the chassis for a HP MSA1500, but that is another story entirely, and I did not get home until after midnight. My neighbor had stopped by and told Ami that they were starting at 8am. I went to bed, slept poorly and woke up at six so I could get some coffee in me as well as clear some space off the DVR…which is a euphemism for watching Stargate from the night before. At 8:03, I was at the neighbor's door.
We went down to get the truck, which was a little too small, but not so small that it was fun to drive. At fourteen feet, you could get large things it in, but we would need to make multiple trips. Did I mention that he was moving to Schuylerville? I did not? Oh! Yes. Schuylerville is about forty miles from Albany, which makes it an eighty mile round trip.
Which I made three times…
Everything got packed, trucked, unpacked and installed and such and I was home by midnight. Putting in a fifteen hour day when you think that you are going to be putting in a four hour day (eight at most) is a shocking thing. I was never so happy to be home.
Sunday, Ami, TEA and I spent a lazy morning with a leisurely breakfast and puttering around the house, and then we turned ourselves into middle class consumer nightmares. All in the search of a chair for the living room. We didn’t find it, but it was a fun search anyway. TEA was great and I am very proud of the young man he is turning into.
KayGee came over for dinner. She was great, the food was ok (not my best effort) and it was fun. My favorite part of the evening: convincing both KayGee and Ami that my brother does answer the phone with a quick rendition of Snow’s “Informer”.
Phone ringing…the “click” of the pickup… “A Licky Boom Boom Down”
Ami had some work issues pop up which ended up being filtered through me because of the way our old phone is being forwarded. Which was comical and sad, the phone and then the news.
After dinner, TEA and I started to watch Ghostbusters (Who You Gonna Call?) which was interrupted by a call from Fred discussing how Albany is innately hedged to be a great city in the future, Joe Lieberman, people we went to college with and their annoying attempts to maintain relevance.
All in all, it was a great weekend.
