Ok, I lied, we didn't take any pictures, but here is an old one to laugh at...
I had the BEST TIME IN THE WORLD with my cousins and family in North Carolina last week! This photo is of my cousin and me...who the heck knows who the baby is?
Anyway, as you may recall...Fearing offered me some help before I went and after practicing a while I did come up with a pretty good version of "git in the truck, y'all!". I was very enthusiastic about it! Fearing gave her blessing so off I went.
I taught my mom on the roadtrip and as we cruised past the 'welcome to North Carolina ' sign, she was at the wheel and I yeehawed over to her..."go mom!! Give it your best!" She took a bite of her protein bar, a sip of her starbucks from the truck stop and shouted 'GIT-IN-THAT-TRUCK!'. We belly laughed through Rocky Mount and straight on to my aunt's house.
Well in answer to a prayer...not only did I see the family, but to be reunited with my cousins was like finding my birth parents after a long search. DUH!! What was I thinking? I had been having a pity party for myself that I surely should have had a sister in my life!!
There they were!! With open arms and laughs and hugs that lifted me off my feet, my two sister-cousins and my two brother-cousins embraced me and I couldn't help but to hold on for a few extra seconds. I teared up a little...the joy was overwhelming. We had grown up together over summers in NC and stuff like that just makes you fully bonded for your lifetime!
The youngest of us, is truly beloved. He is the unfortunate recipient of our elder-sibling abuse. I think he still worries that he may be adopted! J/K, superstar!
NOT! But it is fun to kid him that when he came along we thought he was a real PIA.
Now, my God he is gorgeous and has a beautiful bride. She and I have shared Apple-tinis, so you know she is my kind of people.

The next, my Lord, he is a handsome, bright, sweet man. His blue eyes can see into your soul, so you best not try to mess with less than the truth. God I love that man. You can see a little corner of his soul too, I know his heart has been broken and the pain is still there, one tiny fleck of loss in those eyes. If I could I would make it all better by singing "United We Stand" and I would be willing to put on the old dress-up bridesmaids dresses if it would make him smile. I am so happy to meet his new bride. She is delightful.
My best friend and hostess is my sister, my cousin, my friend. You would not want to know all the things we talked about. Let's just say that we have no secrets. We share our hopes, our dreams...my life is truly enriched by her.
The funny thing about her is that she has NO IDEA how strikingly beautiful she is. She is currently considering a relationship with a suh-weet man (yes, I met him). I vote yes. Will have to keep you posted on that one. I make a very good bridesmaid just for the record! hehe
One of the planned parties was to celebrate the birthday of my other sister-cousin-friend. She was shocked that we were able to attend and said that she thought I would never leave PA...um, what? Git in the truck with that one! If that "boat" comes round the corner, I am so on it! yuck, yuck!!
This cousin is the eldest of us (nonny-nonny-boo-boo). She used to make us sit in her "class" on the back deck at their house when we were little where she taught us that if someone asked us where we were from, we MUST say Minnesota. While that was true of our births...it confused me coz didn't I live in Philadelphia? I was not one to argue though. She was and is beautiful, smart, wise, gracious, compassionate and so very generous. She is off to save the world right now and is saving lives in lands where you and I might never have the guts to go to.
One afternoon, I was telling my hostess how much in love I was with my dog. I told her that she would soooo benefit from having a cockapoo just like mine. WRONG, she said. Never gonna happen!
No interest on her part...so we continued chatting up about all the things on our minds....at one point I was saying about how we can manifest things we want and ask for what we want and change what we want all by changing our minds...she told me I was maybe a deeper thinker (translation, STF up!) *smile. I believe everything is like a "sign" of synchronicities....she said either she misses the signs or they just aren't there at all. Who knows?
We left for the party and stopped for gas on the way. She jumped out and as she did, she said, hey, look at those cute puppies! I checked out the back window and off to the side of the parking lot were three adults. One young couple, one young girl and three adorable cockapoo puppies! I walked over and called out, hey, can I play? I wanted to capture that pure moment of joy that only a kitten or puppy can give....bliss, ya know?
I soon found out that the puppies were for sale and I offered up my best to the couple that MY DOG was the love of my life, this same breed and that PERHAPS, I might love my dog even more than my husband! I am sure they bought one.
I realized then that we had actually manifested this little trinity/trio of dogs and I was just certain that Cousin would be buying this or that puppy!! "Come on, Y'all", I yelled as she got back in the suv and pulled over to us...I am saying, oh my gosh, is this a sign or what? Three hundred dollars! You must buy one!! And all she could do was be patient with my arse, as she was accustomed, I am sure , of being...and so she said :
No!! GIT IN THE TRUCK Y'ALL!! GIT IN THE TRUCK!!
I love her.
