Today is all about celebrating freedom. Liberation takes so many different forms, but as I continue on my own journey of discovery, looking forward and looking back while firmly rooted in the present, I recognize that often, we are the ones who hold the keys to our own prisons.
Life is about change, sometimes deliberate, and sometimes thrust upon us. It is also about choices, our response to the inevitable change that is part of the fluid and dynamic nature of living. Too often, we seek a moral message in the changes brought by circumstance. Why do bad things happen to good people?
Conversely, why do good things happen to bad people?
Good and bad are relative. Sometimes, we don't see what exists as potential alternatives, e.g. - missing your flight only to learn that the plane crashes. Sometimes, we spend so long looking for meaning by examining whether or not the circumstance was meant to punish or reward us that we miss the heart of the message. Embrace the change.
Doors close, windows open. You lose your grasp on something treasured only to remain open to receiving something better, something you could have not imagined while clinging to what seemed like the ultimate happiness.
