Who's reading soaringraven (37):
Hi, I'm soaringraven's oldest grandson, the one he calls Nathaniel on here.  This morning at about ten I came over to spend the day and try to get the lawn cut for tomorrow.  When I came into the house I found Gramps on the floor in his reading room.    My mom had just dropped me off so I called her right away and then called 911.

So far we don't really know anything except that the doctors think he'll be ok.  They just haven't figured out what happened yet so they are going to keep him overnight.  Anyway, Gramps never logs out of soulcast and I have read everything he writes here so I thought I would just write a little thing telling you all that he is in the hospital, but should be home sometime tomorrow.

Meanwhile me and my cousin are staying here tonight to get some things ready for tomorrow.  Gramps insists that we are going to do everything as planned no matter what happens to him.  He's a nut.

I'm sure that when he gets home he will get online and write something, especially after I tell him that I have done this.  I hope he isn't pissed at me for doing this but I just thought some of you might want to know, besides I needed to say it to someone.  I am totally scared.

Nathan.....You are very considerate to let us know what's going on. I'm pretty sure your Gramp wont be upset with you. These things are scarey and even old sots like me would be rattled. Glad you can get it out on here. As follks see this there ll be lots of messages of hope and cheer. I'm sending both you and your gramps all the best of thoughts and prayers. You did all the right things.

Oh, geez, Nathaniel.  I bet you're scared.  I'm 23 and I'm scared to death of just the idea that something might happen to my grandfather...let alone to be the one to actually find him on the floor!  I'm glad he will be okay though.  I hope he's not too mad at you either because I think it was very thoughtful and kind of you to let us know.  Hopefully it helped a little to write it out?  I'm glad you did :)

Sending lots of thoughts for a speedy and complete recovery from whatever it was!

I think you did a very thoughtful thing, letting us know.  Thank you.  I enjoy reading your gramps' posts very much.  My best wishes for a complete, speedy recovery.  I know it's scary, but he's in the very best place he can be, being cared for by people who know what they're doing.  You take care, Nathaniel.

Thank you for letting us know, Nathaniel.  All of you are in my thoughts.

Thank you for thinking of us, Nathaniel. Like nyt said, I'm 25 and I'd be a wreck if I'd found my grandfather on the floor. It's totally normal to be scared by this. I'm glad they think he's going to be alright though. (And if it helps at all, my grandfather actually was found like that about fifteen years ago, and he's still fine today!)

((hugs)) for you and for soaring whenever he sees this. I don't think he'll be upset. And you all are in my thoughts.

Dear Nathaniel, Your grandpa is quite a special person isn't he? I am so very sorry that he is having a bad spell and I feel badly that you had to deal with this difficult situation. You must be as special as your grandfather says to have handled it so well. Please know that he, and all of your family, will be in my prayers. Try and get some sleep and may tomorrow be a better day.

Hey, I'm the grandson you all might know as Jason.  My cousin has gone to bed cause he's way tired.  I'm going to in a few minutes.
My dad, uncle and aunts just left a couple minutes ago and my cousin asked me to update everyone on whats going on.  Gramps is too damn stubborn to be really sick so he's gonna be fine.  The doctors are saying that it looks like his blood sugar took a serious nosedive and he passed out.  They don't really know why yet and will have to do more tests.  We got a chance to talk to him for a while tonight and he sounded real good and insists that he'll be home in time for dinner tomorrow.  My dad says the doctors want to keep him for a few days but he doesn't want any part of that.  Its pretty hard to change gramp's mind once he has made a decision, so I think he'll be home in the morning sometime.   He's pretty stubborn.   My cousin is totally freaked out.

Well thats all I can think of right now so goodnight.

Thanks for the update, Jason. I was just thinking about all of you and wondering how your grandfather was faring. I hope they can figure out what happened with his blood sugar, and I know you'll all be glad to have him home again.

    Nathan and Jason,
Your Gramps is very lucky to have such considerate grandsons.  It's very apparent how special he is to you.  From reading his posts, I would say that feeling is mutual too.  :-)

I will say a prayer for his speedy recovery.

    Thank you for the updates.

Thank you Nathan  and Jason for letting us know.  I was in my late 40's when I walked into my mom's room one morning and found her on the floor. I can totally relate as I was scared like crazy when that happened. She was stubborn to the max and wouldn't let fire & rescue take her to the hospital. That was 5yrs or so ago and I'd be petrefied if it happened again.
I will keep your grandfather and your family in my prayers.

Jason thank you for updating us on what's happening.  You and Nathan are doing a great job of taking care of your gramps house and keeping us informed.  I'm glad you have each other too.

My mother's been hospitalized a few times.  Both times it was dehydration.
Silly old folks don't notice they're thirsty.

It might be that simple which is why they'd ship him home so soon.
It sounds like he's in such good spirits in may have been this minor.

My mother was rather amused at herself when it happened to her.

Nathaniel & Jason - you're mighty lucky to have such a wonderful relationship with your grandpa, and I am sure he feels fortunate to have you as well.  I hope he feels better soon - Wish

I'm a little late reading this, but I'm really glad he's going to be okay. That would be really scary to find him like that. But thank you guys for keeping us updated and letting us know what's going on. I hope your grandfather feels better soon and that he comes home quickly.

Hey boys I think  your gramps is great. I do  hope he will be O,K . Give him my best.

Hi, Nathaniel here again.  Gramps got home today a little before noon but I haven't been able to get to the computer until now to let everyone know.

The dictors still don't really know anything but they let him come home anyway as long as there will be someone here all the time.  So my  cousin and I will be staying here for a while to keep an eye on him, plus everyone else will be checking in often to make sure everything is alright.

We had dinner and now he's in bed, hopefully sleeping.

I think he's going to be ok, but he did something no one has ever seen him do before in his whole life in order to get home.  I think what he did is pretty cool, but sort of rotten at the same time.  He told them that if he wasn't allowed to go home today he would pull funding from the hospital's continuing education program that is funded partly by the family trust.  I was there when he said it and was shocked.  My dad and uncle both said that they had never seen him use the funding card, ever, with anyone.   They said that Gramps  just doesn't use his influence to get things he wants for himself.  So I guess he really wanted to come home.

Dad also reminded him afterward that he really couldn't have done that since he no longer controls the trust, but I guess the hospital doesn't know that yet.

Yeah, and I told him about doing this and he was a little annoyed.  He said that everyone really over-reacted to a little thing.  I don't know.

    My uncle calls him pig-headed.

Well I guess that's all I have to say.  Sorry we made such a big deal out of what may have been a little thing.

I still don't think there was anything wrong with letting us know what was going on. And thank you for posting that he's home now. :) That's good to know. Soaring is my friend, and I would rather know than not know when something happens, even if it turns out to be relatively minor.

I'm sure he wouldn't mind and I'm glad you let us know.  thank you so much for being considerate enough to tell us.  we would have been wondering where he was.  Good wishes to him for a speedy recovery!  :)

He is certainly an independent-minded person, and coming out of a hospital/medical situation where he has no doubt been fussed over and fussed at to no end.  He's probably had his fill of it!  So I'm not surprised he's annoyed to have been fussed over here also, but I suspect that after a little time being back to normal it will all wear off :)

Thanks again for telling us.  I really appreciate knowing that he's alright.

I hope that coming home was the right thing to do. Your grandpa may be right and it is no big thing but I hope that he allows the drs to check him out to be sure. Thank you so much for keeping us informed. You take care of yourselves, young men. That goes for you too Soaring.
