I have been here awhile now...bothering and amusing you....but there is something I still don't know how to do, even though I remember doing it in tech school.

How do you guys link a post on your blog, as in saying  here  ,  and then it will take you to that post?

All I ever do is copy and paste the funky line way up there on the screen.

Remember you are talking to someone who needs specific, grade school, step by step instructions!

Thanks!

All you need to do is once you have that long link address in place, highlight it and type the word or words you want to replace it with.  The link remains live but only the words you chose to appear are there.

Here is how I do it.  I'll link one of my posts.

First, you need to have two browsers open, one with the post you're writing, and one with the post you want to link.

Make sure you're in Compose mode.

Okay, let's say I wrote the sentence, Mimi is a big chicken.  Highlight the words you want to use for the link. (in bold)

Switch to the other browser, the one with the post you want to link.  highlight and copy the URL.

Go back to the post you're writing and click on the little icon with the blue globe on it.  A little box will appear in the upper left corner of the screen.  Paste the URL in the little box and click okay.

    For example,

    Mimi is a big chicken.

soaringraven and MissMimi:   Ok, your words are here, but not computing yet.  I will work on it!  I see the problem...  I never have two browsers open.  That is like opening the window twice in my computer room.    I can barely do it once.   Ha.

Thanks though.  I promise to try this soon.  Maybe not today.  Maybe not tonight. But soon.  (Bogie impression)

How do you have 2 browsers open?

I just tried to do it, and started a new post to be a test....but got stuck as soon as I realized I had only one browser open, I guess.

    sorry for being so dumb!

    Which browser are you using?

I use Mozilla Firefox, and I just click on the File menu and then click on "New Tab."

Still on Explorer something or another....and need an upgrade......that's my  best guess to this question.   I have subsribed to Firefox at one time or another. It's on there when I click on, anyway, but I don't mess with it.

Wow, I am in trouble, and nevermind!

testing out the link--cross your fingers....

    I did it!

Thanks all!  I used the link quietone posted, to go to polarhearts post with lots of great info!  Thank's a million, you guys!

Now, if I install Firefox---what will happen?  Will I lose my yahoo home page with my e-mail, weather, etc....that I am used to having?  I am still looking for my old yahoo home page, from when I accidentally created a new e-mail name while trying to upload photos from MySpace to flickr.  When I got back--it said, "Welcome---------!"  I had a new email address and have never found my old stuff since.  I had to get everyones email addresses all over again and start over as if I had just gotten a computer for the first time!

That's why I am afraid to use Firefox--but I guess I already have it, right?  It is on my screen to click on, along with Comcast (which I don't use, either) and Google etc...  I know, I am lame!  I just don't know anything about Firefox--as to what will happen with Yahoo?

    But thanks, silverwhisper and everyone!
