I watch the news, not all the time, but enough to "get the idea"...
Nowadays, news are police/finance/war/disaster posts, in a great percent...
You don't turn on the tv, or even radio, and listen to normal, everyday news! You
tune-in to the "Horror Channel"! I'm not saying that awful things don't happen,
but what I am saying is that good things happen too!!!
I mean this thing has been going on for some time now, decades, but it is getting worse every year. The world is indeed in turmoil, but it -more or less- has been this way for eons. Two World Wars have passed, and the News were
reporting and/or fabricating a paradigm. Still, besides the aphasic news usually
accompanying wars and disasters, there were normal, everyday news.
Nowadays, everything is presented out of proportion! Everything is being
exaggerated! This, among others, in turn, fuels a new exaggeration of events,
giving "food" to near-apocalyptic(!) everyday News!... Mankind is being slowly
driven to "madness"...
Oil spills, Ozone layer, war, famine, diseases, natural disasters, loans and
bank rates, inflation, food shortage, oil shortage, water shortage, traffic reports, racism, crime, injustice, scandals, a looong list... Ok, any good news?
There Must be some good news! Not news about Hollywood "stars", not news
about political promises, not news of the kind "we will bring the kids back home!" lies, not news about the next 10 -funded...- years until we finally beat
cancer, not news about Nba or whatever (pro sports), not news about the lucky one in a million who won the lottery, you get the idea...
I mean real news, not starting with misery, not presented in this "special" way, where bad news are followed by aphasicaly "happy news", and vise-versa
till the viewer/listener has become a mentally ill personality... I mean just this
: News. This and that happened, in a rational and humane presentation.
Projecting news in real-life proportion, about real-everyday life issues, and the
rest, be them good or bad. I mean you can't start seeing/hearing news that have as first news: massacre in that distant country because the dictator there
is... ugly! I mean, ok, but who cares?!!!! Announce this later, and if possible
make the people sensitive and informed enough as to help the people there,if they can. Just an idea.
Don't start the news by saying: "new taxes may one day, soon, be upon your
cursed heads, but it doesn't matter since you all live in a doomed planet!"
short of thing... Give me a break! Things are not That bad!
People are still waking up to go to work, face their everyday problems, laugh,
smile, eat, breath, love, are stressed, etc. Ok, that is called Living you know!
Not a perfect way to live, I know, but Not the horrors described in the news!!!
This is the Fear Factor in real life... Only there's no "funny" camera around...
And as I've said, fear and stress are one hell of a manipulation tool........
I know that news are like this because it suites agendas... It also suites the
multi-billion news-market. We don't live in Utopia, yet...
But why fool ourselves, why allow this poison into our minds and hearts?!
Remember one thing, We Create the News.........
-way better than "making the news"...-

I used to want to be a news writer--even went to school for it.  But I am thinking these days that it is the media that is influencing the negativity of the world.  Ratings, ratings, ratings....and why are only the bad things the catalyst for ratings?

Occcasionally, you see a "good news" story.  But then people think it is like Pepto Bismol in a sea of indigestion.  They want it, but wish they didn't need it.

    What's up with that?

    You' re right!

Seems that some want everyday man/woman and child to live in a state of
endless stress and insecurity, even for things that are easy to handle...

They exaggerate the news, usually the bad ones, and  by alternating  bad news with "good", or good news (and ads...), they position the public in a state of stress, or apathy. Either way, goal achieved, a frightened or obedient flock...

Since you' re into such things, remember some years ago when an editor (I think) of a major newspaper, in his retirement party, nearly exposed this entire news thing?  Don't  remember the name or the paper, but maybe you do.

Don't ever give up your dreams
