I think it is important, especially in parenting to lead by example. I don't always succeed, but I try.

I begind to feel as if I am alone in this belief.

Should it be okay to expect those within our circle of influence and or power to do that which we ourselves will not?

I try to lead by example. I know that at times I fail but its not an intentional thing.

I know that I'm not alone in that but, it feels like it from time to time. Like when oldest comes home and says her boyfriends parents smoke pot all the time. I don't really even have an issue with them smoking. They had to spend their teenage years hiding it from their parents, why can't they hide it from their kids. Instead they give the okay for them and their friends to partake in it. I guess they are leading by example as well.

I don't know that I can reasonably expect someone else to do something that I'm not willing to do myself. However, there is very few things that fall into that category. I will do just about anything if it will benefit the kids in some way.

I TRY to lead by example. However, I think its valid to use the "do as I say not as I've done". Passing on experience of things you already screwed up is a good thing.
