  What Fox News is not. That is the biggest opinion network there is. Fair and Balanced means no opinions, no spin, no slant. Fox News does all of the above, not to mention they are ultra paranoid!!

  Two perspectives on Fair and Balanced:
   
  • Both sides of an issue are represented - which Fox News generally does
  • A conservative-leaning channel provides balance against perceived liberal-leaning channels.
   
  I say "perceived" because there is always some disagreement as to whether or not other channels are liberal, not liberal, or not liberal enough.
   
  I disagree that Fair and Balanced means no opinions at all. When reporting a story, it is always from a particular perspective. The opinion is embedded within the journalist's psyche, the editor's content choices, and the network's overall tone, programming style and demographic targeting.
   
  As long as an opinion piece is clearly identified as such, which Fox generally does when Megan Kelly, O'Reilly, Cavuto and so on do their thing, that's fine. Cavuto also reads letters from people who disagree with him and even insult him.
   
  That's pretty fair and balanced to me.
