I walked out of church this morning, right in the middle of the sermon.  People who think they have all the answers frighten me and piss me off.

Convert your friends and family before it's too late.  No conversion = a one way ticket to damnation.  That was the jist of it - the message that sent me packing.

Is it possible to have the only direct path to the Divine?  Knock it off - the gates of Heaven do not operate by secret password, say the prayer - be it the born again, the shaddah, etc., - and come right in ... Bullshit.

God is the Source - He/She is about unity, not division.  If the All-Powerful intended us to follow the same path to finding Truth, certainly it could be arranged.  Finding God is a unique experience.  It isn't in a book, ANY book - and I do not care which one you quote - it's in the heart and the spirit.

Christians aren't the exclusive keyholders to paradise, pals.  I don't want a God that blesses one group at the expense of all the rest.  It offends my soul.

I went to God's house this morning, but He wasn't home.  Thankfully, with a little meditation, I am pretty sure I know where to find Him.  Gonna leave a message.  Waterwalker was right: "There is no one innocent in this game you call life."  Check the holier than thou at the door and maybe we can ALL find a little piece of paradise.

Destiny & CJ - Thank you for allowing me my little rant.  I don't know why I keep going back hoping something will change, but I feel a little lost without the security of traditions I grew up with - guess I'll have to let go as I continue on the road to discovery - Wish

Sounds like you made a decision to look for something.  That's a good start.  Yes God exists but don't ask me to explain. I've had a supernatural experience (more than one, I'm thickheaded and God wanted my attention) and maybe you'll have yours one day.
Until then faith in your belief is basically the only thing that will see you through to that day.  You'll have to realize that visiting God's house has really nothing to do with whomever is in the pulpit grinding out his version of salvation.  Just get to the point where you visit church to pay Him a visit not the preacher.
Give yourself time, God is everywhere and his plans for you are in motion.

Thanks Rc - I've been searching for a while now, and I am sure God exists.  The human element has a way of detracting from that and it frustrates me, although I will not pretend to be above that.  In many ways, my own perspective is just as limited, but the advantage is that I am willing and hopeful to learn more instead of staying with what's comfortable.

I'm Catholic and for years I've been meaning to have the house (townhouse) blessed and I finally got that done today.
The Deacon and I had a short conversation in which I told him some of my experiences and how life and it's dealings had gotten in the way of me and God and I wished to go back to the first time.
He surprised me by saying that going back is not a good idea (if not impossible) and that we're always evolving in our life and also in our faith.
He said precisely that about not staying with the comfortable and being willing to grow by searching and practicing our faith and belief, thereby learning more as we go along.
You're on the right track kiddo.   :^)
