We always clean on Saturdays. Olia vacuums(she gets paid for that), windexes, and helps with whatever other jobs need to be done. Dasha really likes to clean. She loves having her own bottle of windex to carry! Cleaning actually seems to calm her down. Maybe she cleaned alot at the orphanage and she likes the sense of familiararity. When I told her that she was finished, she said, Oh No! She kept pointing to other things she wanted to Windex! She, like Olia, was starting to drop her dirty clothes on the floor! That is going to change for both girls. Olia knows that her dirty clothes GO IN THE HAMPER! Olia kept apologizing to me today for how the girls behaved last night. I told her that I accept her apology, but there are no more sleepovers until Aug. because she needs to learn a lesson. She was not happy and kept saying, sorry Mom. Olia only learns something when I follow through with the consequence.
Today we are going to get a new inflatable pool slide. We only had the other slide about two weeks, but it kept deflating. I also told the girls that they could get new goggles because the ones we have keep slipping off their faces. When I was a kid, we didn't have goggles, we just had red eyes from swimming(and we didn't complain about it)! I go through so many pairs of goggles because we have a pool. I am not going to allow other kids to borrow our goggles because I think adjusting the straps all of the time is why they break so much.
Olia is upstairs working on her birthday invitations. This will be her first birthday party. I wanted her to invite all of the girls in her class, but she didn't want to do that. She said that some of the girls are mean to her and I guess by age 11 that she should be able to invite whomever she chooses to invite. I was trying to find online websites to create free printable invitations, but I just couldn't so I told her to use microsoft word. I hope that Dasha enjoys the party. I am going to buy a gift for her because I think that she probably never had a birthday party.
