I want to thank all of my SC friends who have become Avon customers, but I've made the decision to stop being an Avon representative.  I will be closing my Avon website effective immediately.

It has been impossible to actually make a profit from selling Avon products.  The profit margin has been low and I've been sent many products I didn't order and have a heck of a time getting them to accept the returns, let alone give me credit for them.  So, I have decided that I can spend my time devoted to other things.  I don't go for their, "can you sell them to someone else" attitude.

It's been a big disappointment.

Once again, thanks to those of you who have ordered from me.  I have truly appreciated your business.

Don't blame you, drove my husband's ex-wife nuts, not that I care, because of the need to go door to door at people's houses for money and pay for samples for cheap junk.

CW...Arbonne is said to be a better company to work for. I personally have never worked for them but, I have family that does. They really enjoy that company and their philosphy. No matter what you choose to do, I wish you luck in finding something that works well for you.

    cotterall&elaineadams,
The main drawback for me has been that the profit margin depends on the product sold.  It is not consistent.  I haven't been compensated correctly on  my internet sales either.

    vacant,
Thanks for the tip.  I'm not sure what direction I'm going now.  Maybe I will focus more on writing again.  I do have my book finally flowing.

    My Sister sells Arbonne.
I bought some things from them.
She took the almost $200 facial abrasion and peel kit I bought right out of my closet because I had it in there for almost 2 months and decided to use it herself because someone kept asking her how it worked!  I'M PISSED about it and due to something else we still aren't speaking.  I also bought a shampoo and conditioner, I personally didn't like them.  I have a facial clenser and it's okay, either way I'm fine with it.  I also have an eye tightner and I DO like that a LOT!

The only problem I can find with Arbonne is that it's VERY expensive.  Overall, I could go either way on their products.  I've tried other things from there that my Mom's purchased that I've liked.  My Sister gets A LOT of free things and I mean A LOT when she gets large orders.  When she signed up, the only thing she wasn't pleased with was also having to spend a crazy amount to get her own website to sell directly from.  It's not a job for her, it's more like a hobby and she signed up for the discount on products anyway.  Oh, the sign up fee is seperate from the dedicated webstore fee.

Sorry that should have been in it's own blog!

    No problem, Daily.

I have used Arbonne myself in the past.  A friend did try to get me to sell it.  I really don't think cosmetics, etc. is going to be my thing.   I already have an idea for something else.  :-)

I'm sorry to hear you and your sister are on the outs.

Hi! I just started selling AVON just over two weeks ago, so still in my first campaign. I have found it difficult to get started with the economy the way that it is people are less apt to buy. I live in a small military town and I am starting to think there are a LOT of AVON reps LOL I was just wondering how long you were with the company for before you came to the conclusion that it was not worth it? My leader is very outgoing and will just try to sell to everyone...I am more considerate of peoples money situations =) So, I don't know how good that will work for me. I have just been trying to get my website going, so I hope that works better. Julie PS If anyone is looking for a new avon site since CW has closed her's feel free to stop by mine if you'd like www.youravon.com/julienickels

    Julie,
I started with Avon last August.  I had some health issues in there too, but I never really got it to take off of the ground in a way that I could make money.  I found that the items I was selling weren't the higher commission ones.  The rep who signed me up kind of abandoned me and I've just been finding my own way through the web office. The way they handled direct deliveries at Christmas was kind of stressful.  If you have good support to help you, I think it has potential.  I wish you the very best of luck.

    ddavila,
I live in a rural area.  The kind of was going against me and the people whom I thought might support me did not.  You live and learn.

    Good luck with your business.
