so i realize i haven't posted anything that wasn't a writing exercise in a while and that doesn't feel right. i know i said i wasn't planning on posting anything but those for a while but the simple truth is i miss you guys.

let's see...my db project is officially (finally) over. the client won't be using the app because it doesn't address some needs and to be honest, the requirements changed. several times. i don't think either of us are happy about how this is ending, but it's best to stick a fork in it: it's done.

on a gaming note: i planned on writing a review of D&D4. now that i've finally read it all and feel that i understand it somewhat though, i doubt that would make for interesting reading for, well, anybody. but i'll be playing it sunday. should be a lot of fun, haven't seen those guys since my buddy g got married a few months back. this time however g won't be running the game: another friend d will, using the new D&D4 game.

writing: jeez, i meant for this time away from SC to be used for writing but i've been positively nuts w/ gaming stuff that i haven't had the chance. i do need to get back to it, though. it's been ages since i've written any erotica that i'm satisfied with.

other than that though i've been doing pretty good.

how about you?

trav: saw your blog the other day about a blog with 2 comments hitting the featured page. now that's a sad day here.

i haven't been reading anyone, sis! heck, only reason i saw trav's blog entry is b/c my browser accidentally opened to SC and it was on the featured page!

It's great to see you, Ed!  SC was really the only place I "saw" you, and I missed your posts.  Selfishly, I'm glad you missed this place enough to come back.

hi, mimi! good to see you again, too! :>

Same old same old over here.

Since I'm new on here, I'm not really familiar with everyones posts and schedules but I've been going back and reading some of your previous posts.  Very entertaining.  Hope to keep reading more in the future.  :)

  • silverwhisper said on Jun 25, 2008....
indeed, it has, thank you; will head over to your blog later today to see if that's been true for you as well. :>

I'm glad you've been faring well, ed. You already know anything that might remotely qualify as news from me, I think.

That stinks about the db project, but it's good that it's finally over.

I hope Sunday is a lot of fun.

I don't even know how I managed that.

4th looks cool thus far, it's implemented a lot of things that I had already done in house rules like infinite magic missile (though mine was vs touch and had ranges) and ritual magic that anybody can cast.

Other than that I'm still reading.

Hi Ed!!!!  Can I tell you how nice it is to see you here?  You've been missed!

What have I been up to?  The beach!!!!  I'll be writing about it later tonight.......I hope.

    Hugs!

Ed! You have been missed. This place seems to be dying lately.

Now, about me. I am totally stressed and hormonal. The sad part is I haven't even started taking my IVF drugs yet. We are hoping for a positive pregnancy test in August.

infernal: yeah, it does suck re: the db, but it's over and frankly, that's really what matters most to me now. and i'm really looking forward to sunday: i still need to write up a character history & e-mail it to the GM.

pickers: hey, happy thursday! it's nice to be seen! :>

wombat: hey, when will you hear about that writing contest you submitted to? i know it was only last week, but i'm really curious. :>

sean: it'll be interesting--will be testing it out. i'm playing a paladin, the wife's playing a rogue, and my buddy's playing a warlord. that's a whole lotta tactical effectiveness right there--at least, on paper, anyway. :>

fearing: the beach? details, woman--details! :D

vm: o wow...i've got my fingers crossed for you guys--good luck getting lucky! :>

rollingc: always a pleasure to see you, sir. :>

I didn't make it back last night with a post but I will.  Too many pictures not to.
If you miss us, does this mean you're back?  Or are you on hiatus from your hiatus?
  • silverwhisper said on Jun 26, 2008....
i'm just popping in, that's all--at least for now. :>

The new paladins are nice, and combined with the warlord you get the extra attacks.  You guys are gonna thrash things.  I'm currently in the testing phase as well.
  • silverwhisper said on Jun 26, 2008....
sean: cool, our first session should be most illuminating. let me know when you've been able to take it for a spin around the block?
  • SeanRenaud said on Jun 26, 2008....
I've already done plenty of combat, the biggest difference here is that thanks to the healing surges you can have more combat in one day rather than the players having to hole up someplace for 8 hours while the healers recharge (and gods help you if nobody wanted to play a cleric that day)

The per encounter and per day abilities really mix up combat to be something more than simply rolling back and forth.  Which I highly approve of.  Beyond that I'm still forming opinions.
  • RollingC said on Jun 26, 2008....
You guys talking about a game? Hey tell me more...what game is it ?
  • fearing said on Jun 26, 2008....
I come here, tell you how much you are missed, we all pine for your return and you trout smack me.  Sigh.

    ;-)
  • silverwhisper said on Jun 27, 2008....
sean: yeah, i'm looking forward to seeing how this stuff actually plays, myself.

rollingc: we're talking about D&D4, the fourth edition of dungeons & dragons. it's a RPG (roleplaying game) and if you're interested, i've written a host of blog entries on the subject, although few of them recent, admittedly. :>

fearing: would you rather i did something else? :p

    [gives fearing a noogie]

In this post, I talked about how this writer I can't remember (thanks brain) used to make up stories using miniatures sitting on a mantle.

So that's got me wondering. If you had a shadow box with a dozen spots for a miniature, what would you...
