i was having doubts about posting this. but i have to let this out of my heart and my head... i have to let this out because i could no longer keep it inside...

there was a typhoon that hit my country. it was the typhoon "frank".

countless places are destroyed by this typhoon... we were lucky because here in manila it was not as bad as it was in other places.

one of the most affected places is my hometown iloilo.

i know people here read countles blogs about my hometown becuse i blog about it a lot. you guys know how this place is very special in my heart. i was born in the house where i grew up.

luckily my grandparents and relatives are okay. our house in iloilo was not flooded. unlike my cousins house. they now stayed in my grandparents house since their house was flooded by mud... yes mud...

here are some additional news about iloilo...

http://www.sunstar.com.ph/static/ilo/2008/06/23/news/typhoon.frank.leaves.70.dead.p500m.in.damages.html

and also there was a ferry here in the philippines that was capsize during the typhoon.

here is the news about it...

http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/breakingnews/nation/view/20080623-144351/NDCC-confirms-57-survivors-20-dead-from-ferry-sinking

i'm the kind of person that if bad happens... i try so hard to either ignore it or try to hide the feeling... but how can i hide it? how can i keep quite? where deep inside i feel sad for my country...

especially for my hometown. it was said that it was the worst typhoon to hit iloilo...

to see the damage watch this video.

i can't even finish watching this video...

it's like watching your home going under water...

so who's to blame to all of this? shall we blame mother nature? shall we blame the people who let the ship travel even if it was signal number one? shall we blame the people who cut down some trees in the mountains??? which causes the major flood in  iloio...

who?!?!??!

who the fuck shall we blame?!?!?!?!

i'm sad... i'm angry...

but what can i do?

for now all i can do is to pray...

eventhough sometimes i feel like i have doubts about my faith.

yes i admit it... i had my doubts about my faith...

but in times like this... i pray...

i pray for my hometown... my people... my country...

can you do that too?

please pray for my country the philippines... please pray for my hometown...

if you want to donate or anything visit this website...

i know a prayer can make a difference...

please pray...

Say what you want about illegal logging, weather, global warming, irresponsible people or God, in times like this what matters most is that people stick together and help each other. Disaster has a way of bringing us together, strangers helping strangers. This is not a time to blame anyone or anything but to pull together and try to recover as much as possible. After the earthquake in China some university students walked from a city hundreds of kilometres away to the site of the worst damage, helping people in need as they went. They called out, "We are Chinese. We stick together. We help each other. No one gets left behind." Now it's your nation's turn to prove its solidarity and compassion. You will find a way to recover and return to a normal life.

I am relieved to know that you are alright. How about our other SoulCasters from the Philippines?
  • queenparanoia said on Jun 23, 2008....
    thank you zayda and rollingc.

hotaka: youre right it's time to stick together. please tell that to our president cuz her fucking ass in the u.s. right now taking care of some bullshit stuff with bush while her people are sufferring. and yeah it's not the first time things like this happened. and i'm surprise that people here helped each other. the only soulcaster i have in contact with is dazed and confused. she is fine and is here back in manila. i  dont know how to contact others though

    Queenie {{{HUGS}}}
I've been checking on your posts because I had seen the footage of the ferry.  Then, I learned that a typhoon hit your home, I wouldn't have heard of it if that accident didn't happen.  I'm writing this to let you know that I was thinking of you.  I have had so many issues posting here, that all I've been doing is reading, if the site even allows me to do that.
I'm so sorry, Queenie.  I've told you several times that my Dad was stationed there twice and he called me and was very upset (it was his life there for so long that he thought he would call it home again someday).  Mr. Daily's Uncle and his new wife and baby were heading back there (from Afghanistan) to have the baby baptized.  I had told you about our friends that had gotten married there just recently and Mr. Daily got an email that his in-laws were okay. They've been allowing complete strangers that weren't so lucky to stay with them.  I'm so sorry for your cousins.

daily: thank you daily. i'm glad that your friends are okay too. yeah here in the philippines during the typhoons and stuff like that we let even complete strangers to our home. in our house in iloilo most of my relatives are staying in my grandparents house. they are crowded in there but they are fine. i feel sad fo the families of the people who are in the ferry. did you know that most of the passengers havent found yet? let's pray for their safety and thank you for your concern.
  • hotaka said on Jun 23, 2008....
You guys don't need your president to get organized and help out. It's human nature to work together in times of strife. You guys can show her that you can get along fine without her waving directions.
  • dailyachesandpains said on Jun 23, 2008....
It's nice to know that the community as a whole pulls together during these storms.  I guess if there's anything comforting it would be to know that one has somewhere to go.

The last story I saw was that they found 33ish survivors.  I think that was last night when I saw that.  My insomnia gives me issues with knowing when things happen.  I never know the day.  Oh, I've been praying, trust me.  It's SO horrible!  The USA usually helps out when disasters strike, I wonder if your President might be asking ours for some help...maybe?

Oh dear queenie - I can't believe how awful that is.  I am so glad you and your family are OK.  You are a beautiful person and have every right to be angry.  Anger is only natural and is all part of being human and healing.  I do not bow to any religion but I have always believed there are greater things than us out there.  I shall pray to any god that is willing to listen to keep those people safe.

So often the people are all too easily forgotten after the headlines fade but it will take them all so long to rebuild their homes and thier lives.  I do thank God for those who have survived.

    You take care queen P

I just watched the video. It all looked familiar. Usually, at least once a year, somewhere in Japan has the same problem. I could tell you of a few memorable news stories but you've seen it yourself at home. I know, you guys get typhoons too on an annual basis. It's part of living in the typhoon zone. Basically, people who live in such places should prepare accordingly for the worst. Unfortunately (Hurricane Katrina - 2005) most people don't. In a way it's like pitching your tent on the beach and being surprised when the spring tide comes in and soaks it. So I say again, there's no one to blame now. Just do your best to pull together and get through it all.

I prayed for our people here on Philippines. My first prayer was granted, the typhoon was supposed to hit Bicol region, thanked God that even though signal number 3 was raised here earlier all we experienced was some rain. Still praying for your folks in Iloilo...
