....instead of talking about Obama's church, race, wife, or whether he wears a flagpin, or McCain's age etc....

How about all of you, wouldn't you rather start hearing about the issues of this election than the two candidates slinging it out ......or the media sturring up dirt?

I would like to hear how the gas crisis is going to be solved.  The Iraq war is going to be handled........other things like that !

    Things with importance...........

I have been wondering the same things, and I agree with you on this. Many people would rather focus on something that has no relevance to our day to day lives, or our future.  who cares about Obama's certificate or race for that matter.

What matters is that we find someone who can get this country going again. We don't need to waste time talking about trivial meaningless things. But if people want to focus on the wrong things, then whatever we get will be whatever we get. I'd rather talk about issues and try to solve them, not further add to the problems..

How about the capital gains taxes he wants to impose on the middle class? Or maybe the higher taxes he wants to impose on oil companies - which will only cause higher gas prices for us?

Again, lets get our facts straight on Obama...

Obama has said he would not raise the capital gains tax on individuals with income of less than $250,000. In a June 9 interview with CNBC's John Harwood, Obama said, "[K]eep in mind on all of these proposals, what I have said is, let's make sure that we define the well-off so that we're not hitting the middle class. I generally define well-off as people who are making $250,000 a year or more, and that means, for example, if we raise the capital gains tax, I would exempt people who are essentially small investors, and really capture the -- those who have done very, very well over the last two decades."

Furthermore, investments to fund your retirement are not going to be affected because distributions from 401(k) and IRA accounts are taxed as regular income, not as capital gains.

runningbear you have mistaken the intentional media obfuscation of the issues for what concerns the average citizen. The media does not concern itself with the average citizen, with the lone exception being what is profitable for the media. To understand the media as a reflection of the average citizen is to be blinded to the fact that the media is owned and operated for profit. It's profits will always come at the expense of the citizen. That motive will always lead it to try and mold public opinion to it's own ends.

    Here are more issues.

Obama would raise taxes on the rich, but as an investor, he seems eager to cut his own. He has invested at least $1 million in a fund that yields tax-free income.
