Lingerie – fashion statement in underwear

Madonna first sported underwear as outerwear. This shocked parents and awed their children. Today, this has evolved to women wearing corsets, camisoles etc in public. Although the more sensitive areas are covered, the idea of underwear as outerwear is a rebellious one. Lingerie available nowadays has so much decoration that it begs to be shown off. There is sequin, crystals, fur, laces etc to adorn lingerie and transform it from ordinary to extraordinary. Thongs have gained so much sex appeal that they are no longer considered as “butt floss”. Instead many women are adopting it as a regular wear.

There are other lingerie that cater to other fashion needs. The demand for good corsets has constantly been growing. A woman dressed in a corset is a sight to remember. The corset does its job of hiding the vitals but signaling their presence nonetheless. Plus size lingerie is also gaining more social acceptance. Previously, women with bigger bust had little choice of lingerie. Now however there are shops that are dedicated for ladies with bigger bust. In all these ways, lingerie is slowly making its way into our fashion world. The future of this can only be more inventive uses of lingerie in more regular places. Whether this is good or bad is another issue, but lingerie is making its presence known.
