If this is all true, we are in for a scary ride if he is elected President!
In Obama's own words (Very, very Scary)

This guy wants to be our President and control our government. Pay close
attention to the last comment!! Below are a few lines from Obama's books.
These are passages in his own words:

From Dreams of My Father: 'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age
Of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating
myself to whites.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of
grievance and animosity against my mother's race.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'There was something about him that made me wary,
a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'It remained necessary to prove which side you
were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name
names.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'I never emulate white men and brown men whose
fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, th e black man,
son of Africa, that I had packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the
attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.'

And here's the clincher: (grab on to something when you read this:)

From Audacity of Hope: 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political
winds shift in an ugly direction.'

Obama is a self-hating liberal who denies that he is every bit as much white as he is black because his identity as a black man plays better politically.

He could have positioned himself as a contemporary reflection of American society - borne of diverse cultures, able to inhabit the white world as well as the black, sensitive to the needs of the majority as well as the minority, a true uniter and not a divider.

The quotes above show exactly where he stands. He stands firmly with the minority and rejects the majority - even within his own identity.

It's hard to consider voting for a man who so blatantly lies about himself.

Wow, white people really worry over nothing at all.
  • curmudgeon said on Jun 17, 2008....
    Who you calling white??
  • SeanRenaud said on Jun 17, 2008....
Anybody who is overly frightened by a bunch of random quotes clearly taken out of context.
  • curmudgeon said on Jun 17, 2008....
Gotcha. As I never read his books, I have to admit guilt here.

I mean lets take the last one for example

From Audacity of Hope: 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political
winds shift in an ugly direction.'
Does this mean as the author of this blog is suggesting that Obama will hand America over to the Muslims (as if even the President had such power) or does it mean that if people start dragging muslims into the streets and killing them that he won't let that happen?

I stood with the Muslims when the winds shifted in an ugly direction on September 12th.  Hatred and threats against them needed to be fought with understanding that American Muslims are valued citizens.  Almost none of which wish ill on anyone.  (No better can be said about Jews, Christians, and Atheists.  Most of them are peaceful, not all.)  This isn't scary.  This shows he will protect the innocent from irrational rage.  This is how all of us should feel.

As for the black / white thing:
Would any of us in his shoes know how to be perfectly comfortable with what our place in society is?  Think of the forces pulling him in half a dozen different directions.  Given the chaotic stew of cultures he's been immersed in, I'm impressed with his negotiation of both the expectations of society and his own.  Such a course through life will serve him exceptionally well when he needs to understand and broker relations between groups of people with conflicting goals.  This is a potent form of experience that I suspect John McCain lacks almost entirely.
  • stopmediabias said on Jun 22, 2008....
We should look at this in a different perspective.  What if John McCain wrote in a book: "It remained necessary to tp prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the white masses, to strike out and name names'"

The media would pound on that relentlessly.  There is also the glaring fact that Obama's minister was tossed under the bus for (harsher but in the same context) comments.

The Black/White thing?  Excuse me?  There isn't suppose to be a black/white thing, remember judge people by the content of their of character and not the color of their skin.  Obama in his writing seems to allude to the fact he believes blacks and whites are somehow different when if McCain or any other white person did this they would be a racist.  Why does Obama get a big fat pass in the mainstream media?
  • SeanRenaud said on Jun 22, 2008....
There is a black white thing smb and not to admit and address it is stupid.  It's actually painful that he hasn't attacked the issue harder but the fact is that admitting there are race issues in the US wouldn't get him elected.
  • stopmediabias said on Jun 23, 2008....

I said there isn't supposed to be.  If Obama was all white instead of half and said the exact same things only on the other side there would be calls for his resignation and the media would never let it go.

Are the race issues in this country best handled by the preachings of Obama's minister and some of the statements Obama himself has made as pointed out by our friend above?  I think not.

  • SeanRenaud said on Jun 23, 2008....
The statements he made above are clearly misquoted.  No they aren't well handled by his minister.

I agree this shouldn't be an issue, I'm not saying this is how it is supposed to be I'm saying this is how it is and to an extent we need to work with what we have and move forward.

clearly out of context. i haven't even read the book and i could see how out of context they are.

I live in a part of Brooklyn where a lot of Muslims, particularly from South Asia, have settled. I'd have to agree that these folks, at least from what I can tell, want to run their businesses, practice their faith and live their lives in peace.

But they're not the only "innocent" people here. People of many different races and religions died on September 11th, 2001. Obama is running for an office that is supposed to represent EVERYONE in the United States, not just the "oppressed" minority.

Choosing one or the other, whatever the circumstance, makes for a great revolutionary leader, NOT the leader of 300 million people with vastly differing viewpoints and backgrounds.

The President of the United States had better be prepared to represent everyone, majority and minority, powerful as well as powerless, oppressor as well as oppressed. To favor one over the other sets one against the other.

That's not change I believe in, because it's not change at all.

So, here we are in the new America. Change has come. Is this the change we really wanted? I don't believe so. This is not about race or opportunity. This is about ideals and values. The United States was built on patriotism. Does anyone in America know...
Fair-weathered patriots really irritate me......

I insist on pointing out the truth. Obama is NOT the first "black" president. The proper term is "mixed race," of one white parent and one black parent, indivisible, with racism wiped out for all!
