Yesterday hb had a photo shoot in town and while I waited for him to finish I caught up with friends over a wine (evening shoot in a restaurant for a food guide) anyway, Tropical Friday at the bar I go to was in full swing.

As a local member there you get free tickets with every drink to go into a draw, there are three prizes the jackpot $2k and two smaller prizes.

I didn't win the jackpot but I did win a really cool wine bag, with coolers and glasses (of which I haven't opened yet) the coolest part is that I usually do not win anything, no raffles, no prizes nothing! so I had a winner night yesterday!

When was the last time you were surprised by the universe with a win!

Cool that you won the wine bag!  I never win anything--like door prizes and such...  The last big thing I won was $100 on the lottery, and that free trip to the Bahamas that keeps showing up on my answering machine.

Great that you won Lucy.  Hope you're going to put the wine bag and glasses to good use.

he he he I know that holiday... its weird though cause hb goes to raffles every week and without fail he brings home something, last time was two meat trays worth at least $60 (meat for weeks) last night the lucky 13 was smiling on me...

I thought I had won $1500  on a scratch off yesterday...a game called Cookout.  I had fork, knife, fork, but for a second there, I thought I had fork, fork, fork!

    FORK!

I can't say I have ever won a lottery or rafel. Not more than $2 anyway. But I have been surprised by some photo contests when I have won a prize. You never know what the judges are going to like.

The most interesting incident was when I won first prize for some ice floe photos in Hokkaido (Japan's northern island). I won about $500 worth of Hokkaido seafood products including a giant crab which I had to break apart and share with my landlords because they had a hotel and I had only a small beer fridge. On top of that, I won a 15kg piece of drift ice from the Sea of Okhotsk. The courier actually delivered a foam box to my door with the waybill saying "Drift Ice". I wonder if he wondered why I might have ordered such a thing. Of course I had no place to put it and the temperatures around my place were heating up to the high twenties while the drift ice in Hokkaido was slowly thawing. My chunk was reduced to a piece that could fit in a small jam jar within a few days.

Yay for you!!!  Winning is great.

I'm not usually a winner either, but in 2007 I was nearly unstoppable at work.  I won the football pool, the valentines guessing game, the baby pool for my mini boss and a drawing for an employee service prize.

    This year, not so much.

my great aunt won 57k at bingo one night....and just stuffed all the cash in her purse and started walking to the bus stop.

luckily one of her friends stopped her and had her call my grandmother who came and picked her up and locked the cash in her trunk till she could get to the bank the next morning.

my aunt was 97 at the time and would get just as excited over winning a dollar as more than 50 grand. she didn't quite get it why everyone was so concerned.

but nope....never had wins like that......only wins i've fought for......but not complaining!

Congrats Lucy!!  I'm like you - I don't typically win anything.  Sigh.  I did get a letter in the mail saying I had a credit in the escrow acct. from selling and paying off the house when I moved.  It said "Please find enclosed a check for the amount of $200" but no check.  My luck.  I called and they said they didn't know why it said that  and the check would follow in the mail.  Does that count - money I didn't know I was getting?

I think it counts Fearing! totally counts.

Thanks for stopping by everyone! Friday 13th turned out very lucky for me.  Maybe the lotto ticket I have will be a winner too
