The military’s “stop-loss” policy will continue according to what the chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of staff has said. The stop-loss policy allows the military too force troops too serve beyond their re-enlistment or retirement dates.

As of right now about 11,000 Army troops are serving under the policy. The military says the stop-loss policy is necessary because of the strain on troop levels caused by fighting two over sea’s conflicts. The Iraq war and the war in Afghanistan.
