Getting a house ready to move in does take at least a few tips.

Some obvious things which you may already know about/do:
-

check your neighbours   ( embarrasing waiting very long, and if a problem arises, it is good to know your neighbor's beforehand.)

- find out what parking is available (do you have an allocated space? Is there room for 2 cars? Guest parking? Do you need a permit?); a bit moot if you’ve got a house with a drive, I suppose!

When I did live in New York, you New Yorkers can appreciate that everywhere you want to go is probably going to require a cab.

- find out where all your water and gas cut-off taps are (before you have a problem!)

- get a small cheap toolkit together (hammer, screwdriver, ruler, etc. maybe even a drill) - fortunately I live with my brother  and I can borrow his...ha

Make sure you have a torch at hand in case of a power failure!

Recycling - what's allowed, what's not allowed, when is pick up, where can I go to drop off if there's too much for the bin?

Garbage - what's allowed, not allowed, pick up dates, local dump hours and rules?

    Hospital - where is it?

If you've got pets - vet's, animal shelter, leash law, licensing,  etc.

911 service? Or do you need to list emergency numbers?
