Yesterday I was up all day as I had an early appointment with my chiropractor which ran late. (I work 3rd shift). I came home and continued my usual routine fixed my lunch and sat down to watch my soap.
During the soap a weather alert flashed across the screen for a "torando watch" and severe thunderstorm warning until 6pm in my area. It even made the beep beep beep as the tiker tape scrolled by. Severe thunderstomrs with high winds of 70mph with hail the size of a nickel..until 1am..
I read in shock.... a what??? a "tornado watch"? This is just about unheard of in this area. Here it was a little after 2pm and the watch was good until 6pm. What to do? What do I do if a tornado was sighted and headed toward me? Well, of course I had to go outside and look at the sky, it looked pretty blue to me.. not many clouds.. where was the "storm"?
You know, I had not a clue. I had an idea, but didn't know if that was for hurricane or tornado. I paniced of course and came here to SC and tried to find anyone that may have an answer for me.
Thank you, cry, Cman, CW, and Mimi! Sorry I bugged you in a state of panic! I have not been this scared in a while. I don't think it would be as bad if I wasn't alone.
I do not know how you all who live with this daily do it. I could not, I would have to move, and that is the truth! I would MOVE.
As it turned out, there were no tornados. We did get some pretty nasty thunderstorms in my area. They went through pretty fast, and I fianlly got to sleep about 10pm...
I didn't go to work ~
How in the world do you live in that section of the country "tornado alley"?? It is beyond me!
Anyone else live in a place with daily weather danger like this? How do you cope with it?
I found out a lot about myself yesterday... I don't do well under stress, and I am not as prepared for any disaster as I might think. Also... I hate not being in "control". I also don't like going without sleep for 24 hours.
What is with this weather anyway? I also saw that there was a snow storm in Snoqualamie (sp)Washington. It was a good one in the pass.. hey Mother nature.. this is JUNE! I feel bad for the farmers and such in the midwest as well with all this flooding and storms... I don't think mother nature is very happy.
