Astronauts and ground technicians are worried about a new problem.
It seems that the Japanese module added to the space station is sooooo big that if someone floats weightlessly out into the middle of the "room" they could simply get stuck floating there with nothing to grasp for momentum.
There were articles all over the place yesterday about this dilemma. Something to fill the gap left by the solution of the toilet problem.
But - being the layman that I am - I can't help but wonder...if an object is floating weightless in the middle of empty space, doesn't a tiny bit of propulsion get it moving again?
I mean, wouldn't a simple fart start me across the room again?
At the very least, they could try Lauren Becall's suggestion and "put your lips together and blow."
