I think your prayers and well-wishes really helped. I have just gotten home from the hospital and apparently the surgery went very well. They were able to use the smaller surgery..... laperoscopy or something like that?..... so that means her recovery time should be a lot quicker. Thank you all for your happy thoughts.
skald: as I understand it, your abdomen is made up of bundles of muscle fibres, like cables, that are held together with a sheath of tissue. This sheath gets a tear in it and your insides poke out through the hole. It hurts like a son-of-a-gun, and over time the tear gets bigger and bigger. You can get them in your stomach (where hers is), in your groin (ouch!) or in your belly-button! I had one in my belly-button years ago, and they are no fun at all!
fearing: I didn't see the doctor, and my wife is still pretty groggy, but they told her it went well.
infernal: me too!
ginger: she's not home yet, but hopefully by the weekend, Thanks hun.
mom: She said she is so glad she didn't have to have the colonoscopy this time. I'm sure you can appreciate that!
destiny: Oh boy, I hope so too. Thanks for the good thoughts, des :-)
scipio: Thanks for the prayers!
Sorry guys, it's been a crazy few days. It turns out she did not have a hernia, she had SIX hernias. That's right six! I have never even heard of this before! I can only think that they must have screwed something up last year and weakened the abdominal wall with the incision or something.
Anyway, they say the laparascopic (thanks for the spelling, silver) went well but they had to make nine holes instead of the usual three or four. She's still in the hospital and will probably be there through the weekend, but she was up walking a bit yesterday. She says she's still sore but not near as bad as last time.
Between C-sections, gall bladder and hernias, the poor girl has had more surgery than anyone I know! Hopefully, this recovery period will be short and she'll be back to her old self soon. Domestic life is pretty chaotic without her here :-)
