I engaged in conversation on another bloggers post, where the theme was about yet another blogger, and his ideas expressed throughout his blogs....I respect this person, and admire him for his "pursuit of truth"...

If we truly have convictions about things, isn't it our moral duty to present them.  I think he is an excellent debater, and I don't understand the "flack" about why this particular post was made, which in my opinion was a blatant attempt to demean and belittle the blogger I am speaking of.

I felt it my "moral duty" to respond.....

It is as follows:...

"Sheltercrow's Own Posts Prove Who He Really Is."   Well, of course they are! they are a reflection of how he thinks and about his concerns for the world.

"Here is a perfect example of how Sheltercrow is an anti-Semite and a complete moron."   However, I don't agree at all with this statement.  He is not anti-Semite, and he is not a moron....I will be back in a minute, if you allow me to, because I do have some input on this I would like to share.  It is just a definition or two of those two words, if you don't mind, that is...

Definition of Moron from American Heritage Dictionary

  • mo - ron

    NOUN:

    1. A stupid person; a dolt.
    2. Psychology A person of mild mental retardation having a mental age of from 7 to 12 years and generally having communication and social skills enabling some degree of academic or vocational education. The term belongs to a classification system no longer in use and is now considered offensive.

I hope you know that I am not intending to belittle anyone's comments here, I just am a stickler when it come to definition of terms.  According to the above definition of the word moron, I can't see where it fits, Sheltercrow.

  • Antisemitism

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

      (Redirected from Anti-Semitism)

Antisemitism (alternatively spelled anti-semitism or anti-Semitism, also known as judeophobia) is prejudice and hostility toward Jews as a group. The prejudice is usually characterized by a combination of religious racial and ethnic biases.

I don't know that this description fits him either. I think he is agrivated and frustrated, perhaps what he sees as a 'grevious' miscarriage of justice towards the Palestinians.  I certainly can't speak for him, but from what I read on his blogs, I just see a man in pursuit of the truth about the conflict over in the "Middle East".

curmudgeon said about 14 hours ago....

But wouldn't a "pursuit of truth" also include the Israeli viewpoint? This is clearly not visible in many of Shelter's posts on the Middle East. That he speaks from only one viewpoint may indeed articulate his point of view, but this can hardly be construed as a "pursuit of truth."

And he has characterized SMB as some kind of right-wing operative.

Why make personal statements and post hit-pieces if you're in search of the "truth"?

  • CB-You seem like a reasonable person, but I think you are naive.  If you read Sheltercrows comments and put them into context he is a raging anti-semite.  He posted the above thing to try to cast a dark shadow over Israel but when you actually go and read the article it makes the Palestinians looks worse, this is what makes him a moron.

The debate of the Israel/Palestinian question according to Sheltercrow is summed up by highlighted every bad thing Israel does taken out of context.  Example:  Israeli occupation force fires into crowd of 3,000 Hamas protesters at Gaza crossing:

Israel occupation forces?  These "occupation" forces are trying to stop Hamas (a terrorist group whose charter calls for the destruction of Israel) from getting into Israel after they handed Gaza over to the Palestinians.

I'll concede that Israel throughout he years has blood on their hands but once again put it into context with the whole conflict.  How many suicide bombers have hit Palestinian markets and killed woman and children?

Shelter's pursuit of truth is more a pursuit of propaganda, otherwise he would have posted that story and put it into context.  And as Curm alluded to, why do hit pieces on me?  If he has a difference of opinion why not state that opinion if he believes it to be true?

Shelter does the same thing with his own country, that is why he buys into the 9/11 inside job bullshit.  Please enlighten me about Shelter's pursuit of the truth in this arena.

  • smb---When I first read them, i thought so too!  Then I checked out his links, and that is basically what he is doing, is trying to get people to read and compare, and think about what is going on over there.

when i was writing down the definition above, i was talking to papajack about it, and it does sound borderline anti-semetic, but this is what made me decide....

Antisemitism (alternatively spelled anti-semitism or anti-Semitism, also known as judeophobia) is prejudice and hostility toward Jews as a group. The prejudice is usually characterized by a combination of religious racial and ethnic biases.

"hostility toward Jews as a group."  This one almost made me think "yes"

" The prejudice is usually characterized by a combination of religious racial and ethnic biases"

The last one makes me think "no"......I don't think he is prejudice because of religious racial and ethnic biases....I think he is angry at the "injustice" of Israel's treatment of the Palestinians.   ( his perception of injustice )

    LOL...dee.

Perhaps your exchanges with sheltercrow have been more civil. He's been incredibly insulting to people who disagree with him.
