My 9yrold took a spill at inlaws on his scooter which he must have been riding 20mph on the city street when I told him to stay on his grandparents' property. He busted his lip open in 2places,was scaped up pretty bad, chipped his front tooth and when he awoke an hour ago before I was due to work didn't want to move his wrist so much although he could and nothing "appeared" broken but I think either a hairline fracture or a bad sprain is what he has.

Any way My dumb behind went to work as I've only been at my job a short time, the 1st of the month is next week, and my boss makes you feel like crapola for calling out. I tried to get my mom to go get him and bring him to my job as the E/R is downstairs and I could keep an eye on him. But she had to be at her nursing home job.
So tommorrow I will race home to make an all day trip to either the er or his doctor. Their dad has a crappy insurance that makes you pay upfront for everything so I should probably have my trusty 50 bucks ready for the E/R surcharge..errr I mean fee.

I feel a little crappy that I my first response was to yell at him but when he came up to me he was covered in blood, swollen lips cuts all over his right sound and I had told him NOT to leave the property as they have two yards to explore and play in plus a drive way. I took him and apologized as I cleaned and bandaged his cuts adding neosporian to them. I apologized and kissed him telling him he scared me. I think he understood.

I can't wait to trade in my parent's pass as I hate this part of being a parent. The fear sucks.

i HATE those razor scooters.  is that what he rides?
my middle daughter took the worst spill of her life on one of them about 5 years back-  thank GOD she was wearing a helmet, and even with it, she got a very good concussion.  at the ER, they asked to see the helmet-  we had it in the car, and you could see exactly where she hit her head by the marks on it.  she still has the scars on her legs from the deep cuts and abrasions?  everywhere, including her chin which is also scarred.

After that fall, she wasn't allowed to take the scooter out into the neighborhood anymore.  we save it for the park where there are smooth quiet parking lots.  but even there i see kids riding down hills without their helmets on, and i'm the crazy lady who stops them and tells them to put one one!!!!

i think i screamed at my daughter too.  it's just so upsetting to see them bleeding.  how can you help it???

don't feel bad for that.  and i'd still take him to ER and watch him today.  my daughter's main sign of concussion was confusion.  she would ask 'what happened?', i would tell her and 10 mn ask the same question again.  scared the crap out of me!!!!!!

This is something I find myself doing a lot as a parent.  Especially with my 7 year old daughter!  I tell her not to do something and when she gets hurt doing what she's NOT SUPPOSED to do, I go ballistic.  I find myself later apologizing to her...but I always feel like shit....and I'm not one to have a short temper either!!

Yup, parenting is tough when the kids do bone headed things you told them NOT to and then they get hurt.  I've more than once had to quell the urge to yell at my daughter for getting herself into deep shit.  My son, not so much.

No cure for it other than to suck it up and deal with it.  I have found that after the fact you can "tease" them about being doing something so dumb "just to get attention".  It usually makes them giggle and lets you leak out some of the frustration.

This is a GOOD one! I still can't believe this one myself........
does it matter???...
because i'm fat......
One of my friends at work was telling me about this date she went on the other night, and she wanted a man's opinion about the whole thing. I was more than happy to tell her what I thought, but I am curious what other people might think too....
