Who's reading antithesis (12):
Like any other God’s creation, physical beauty needs no explanation. It’s like the Sun, the Calla Lily, the Starfish... wonderful and perfect in their own rights. A physically endowed human being needs not speak; its mere sight is enough to elicit awe. An exact symmetry of accurate proportion is one of the wonders of natural creation, no genetic engineering but they came out just as wonderful. Only God could have made such a beauty and a tad of luck in sperm and egg union.

However, not a lot of us are bestowed with such a gift---either we fall on the average or the so called aesthetically challenged.

While that might be the case, some beauty needs to be exhumed and discovered. It needs proving and verification just like any other invention. Intelligence. It doesn’t come easy nor is it earned like a penny. Though geniuses are just simply born with big brains, they have to work tediously to keep and nurture them. Others who belong to the average have to work harder to get a little closer to being smart.

Both are great, and when put to best use, will provide you a taste of paradise only money can afford.

Physical beauty thrives on physical preservation to keep it...otherwise, it will diminish just as quickly as an infant learns to walk. Intelligence is insatiable and feeds on knowledge for sustenance.

One can not have both, as usually is the case.

If in an outrageously impossible supposition, God would ask me to choose just one of which, Beauty or Brain...what should I say? Help. My regression to childhood inquisitiveness is haunting me.

Some people have both but beauty usually fades away or at least it changes.

I agree with skald, totally.  what matters to me are the matters of the heart.... the personality .. you can have beauty and no personality.. or intellegence wiht no personality.... so what do you really have??

skald - thanks for the comment. I like how you blog, hence, I added you.
quietone - you are right, personality is important. You make good photos. I like them and I hope to have time to pursue this interest of mine too. thanks for the comment.

I am working hard just to remain average at both. But if the choice were put to me I know what I would choose: intelligence. I am very disappointed with what I have now and I want more. More, I tell you!

As for personality, it's all I have to make up for what I lack in the other two departments. ;)

I understand what you meant, hotaka, I guess most people want to learn what there is to know. For me, it is to compensate for what might be lost soon, like beauty and others. So I have to keep learning and relearning to maintain, if not increase, my value.

And I totally agree with you, personality helps to make up for the shortcomings. I wish I have all though...greedy me :=) LOL...But when I was a child, the choice was simple  - Beauty, and then I would swirl and bow like a princess as I state my choice... none of us seemed to think of intelligence nor personality that time... Well, choices was simpler then :=)

Sure. When you're young it's beauty that counts. Once you get older and get spotty and wrinkled then you wish you have studied more or did more brain exercises. Since I never had looks anyway but insatiable curiosity the choice for me was easy too.
  • antithesis said on Jun 02, 2008....
Insatiable curiosity is good enough hotaka...but I doubt that you never had the looks. Your wife, for sure, would beg to differ to your statement...because it is tantamount to saying she has poor vision :-P
  • hotaka said on Jun 02, 2008....
Actually, she has terrible vision and wears contacts that often need cleaning.
