THANKS TO NYTQUILL'S SUGGESTIONS THIS BLOG NOW HAS THOSE PICTURES I DELETED. THANK YOU!!!
Have you ever wondered where a road goes? One perhaps that you pass by every day, but because you're always rushing to go somewhere else? Or it could be me and my overactive curiousity. In any case, there are two "vista" points between where I get onto the highway and where I exit the highway. I've always wanted to know where they went and what you could "vista" from them.
This week I decided to act on that. I've grown tired of living in a beautiful state with many attractions and not taking the time to be a tourist in my own state. On tuesday I walked to the cafeteria in the next building for lunch. They have a deck to eat outdoors on that overlooks the inside of the south bay. I got my lunch and while I ate I took a few pictures. They also had ornamental cherry trees around the deck and I took some cool shots of that. I got fresh air, good food and the mental break I needed.
Yesterday I drove out to the furthest vista point from the office. I didn't mean too, but I was so wrapped in thought while I was driving that I missed the first exit. It was up on a hill that overlooks the ravine with the resevoir or lake. There were some pretty trees with low slung branches. I took a few pictures and headed back to my car. This very pretty butterfly started doing these psychotic air loops a few feet from my car. I stopped hoping it would land so that I could get a picture of it, but apparently I wasn't in it's plans for the day.
This morning I uploaded the pictures and deleted them from my camera. I was really excited about sharing them. Then, in one bone headed moment I clicked the delete button meaning to delete one picture and not the whole bunch. Arggghhh!!! I'm such an idiot!!!
After chastising myself for a couple of hours I decided to at least go out to the nearest vista point and get new pictures. I drove out and got out of the car hoping to see much the same as I had yesterday. The vantage point wasn't as high up, but it was closer to the water. No luck, the place was mildly ugly. I did chat with a fellow vista viewer for a few minutes. We both agreed the view was very underwhelming.
So now, at least, I know where the road goes and what vistas there are to see. I may try to get back to that furthest vista and try to recreate the pictures I took. Who knows, maybe the butterfly will have calmed down enough for me to get a picture of it.
