I am a chef in a fist class restaurant. It is a family establishment and it’s roots go far back. I have been a chef there for almost 34 years.

The steady customers are the same as when I started, some are gone to the other side but I also have new customers.. You could say that my restaurant is a club. Not everyone get admission here.

Tonight I had the most tender meat of the lamb on my menu for the grown up numbers in my club, champions and  French fried . For the younger numbers who say, I don’t like meat. There was meat pudding, they don’t consider meat pudding, meat. French fired and  potato salad. Everyone was satisfied.  The young customers beverage was coke a cola . The chef eat while running to the pan and frying the meat pudding. The chef had a glass of red wine with her dinner although she was running and cooking while she was eating. Talk about enjoying food.

The young customer Gummi took his food into the computer room and eat it there. The still younger customers, Freyja, Thor and Daria eat in the kitchen with their grandma which is the chef. They had a great talk with the chef about old days and how there was fish every day during the chefs child hood. They said that they would not like that. And the adopted grand child Daria asked for more coke.

Outside was the gardener the chefs husband talking to our friend Tommi who was welcome to come and have a bite too.

Then when having eating the chef washed up and went on knitting. This chef is knitting a cardigan for Sjöbba, Tommis wife.

Hi, I enjoyed your 'story' also. May you always have enough energy to cook for and to educate your family. (many young people today are vegetarians more or less or have a vegetarian episode)

(I once traveled Icelandic Airlines and a little girl whose mother was Icelandic and whose father was an American soldier sat officially in front of us (my friend S-- and I) but she came to sit next to me and started to tell me how her mother cooked head of sheep (also a delicacy in some ethnic Jewish groups also) and I started to get sick! The cooking details and the air turbulance really got me. )

Skald, you really had me going!  I finally figured it out.  Same as you, I've been a chef for 30 years, but in the past few years, my customers have dwindled down to one.  And he is very easy to please.

I enjoyed this post, my friend.  :)

    Infernal. Thanks. too.
Dia.  heh Yes, yesterday they were.
Trinov.  That was awful and but these heads I never buy nor eat. There is so little meat on them. In the old days people would use everything. Old people still like them. They are burned in some fashion before they are sold and one just has too cook them.
Me.  I use my voice, It is strong enough and I call dinner is ready. lol
Mimi.  I am glad  that your customer is easy to please. So are mine.

Great post skald, very clever. I am a grass cutter today tomorrow and the next day . . . over and over and over and over until it turns cold. I often feel like I'm starring in my own little movie "Ground Hog Day-Part 2".

At first I thought, "Wow, she has never mentioned this before.  Where does she find all her time?"  I have gone back and read quite a few of your older posts.

Then as I read it became quite clear.

I functioned more as the bard.  (teller of tales and singer of ballads)  Occationally I was called upon to perform burnt sacrafice in the back yard.  Not too often though as most desired to eat after the cooking was done.

  • skald said on May 19, 2008....
Soaring  And a bard is a poet not true? A poet is a skald. lol

I like hearing stories and tell stories. I like to sing for people too. I have done some it too. Thanks so much for the comment and for reading my old posts. I thought that yesterdays blog was just yesterdays blog.
  • soaringraven said on May 19, 2008....

Perhaps it is true that once a blog post has slipped into history that it is largely forgotten.

It is also true that when one spots a gem in the ground he will dig in search for more.  In the ground around your blog, there can be found many gems.
