Dan and Olia came home from camping today. They had a lot of fun! Olia came home with about seven badges. The girls slept in pink tents! Apparently the Girl Scouts in this area fund raised for breast cancer last year and raised a great deal of money. The American Cancer Society donated pink tents to the Girl Scout organization. Three girls slept in each tent. It rained in the evening last night so the girls read in their tents. Olia told me that the girls cooked scrambled eggs in a bag for breakfast and they cooked muffins over the campfire. Dan said the kids went on a LONG walk yesterday to complete their nature badge. The leaders had each of the 18 girls in the troop choose a song for a CD at the last meeting and then they gave each girl a CD with the 18 chosen songs on it at the camping weekend. Olia chose a song from Alvin and the Chipmunks. The girls spent the weekend dancing and jumping rope. Dan said all the kids said Olia was a really good dancer. They liked following her dance moves! She didn't sit still for the entire weekend. Dan said she didn't want to leave the campground when the weekend was over!
Today we all went to the library book sale. Dan found a lot of train books and detective novels. Olia loved digging through the table of used books. I bought two boxes of children's books for Olia! She was thrilled. Olia really loves to read. I try to keep several books in the car so that she can read if we get stuck waiting somewhere for any reason. Olia came home from the library and ran up to her room with her boxes of books. She put the books away on her bookshelves, cranked up her CD player and read in her room for about an hour.
